He was supposed to be one of the good guys: A white doctor in Harlem. Professor at Columbia. A national leader against white racism. Frequent guest on the Huffington Post, New York Times and other liberal outlets. Active in U.N. public health initiatives for poor people.
He even lives in Harlem. So when Dr. Prabhjot Singh decided he would stroll through his neighborhood Saturday night, he figured he was safe.
After all, he said to Huffington Post about his Harlem neighbors: “It’s one thing to be told in the news or in a book that a community is not as dangerous as you thought they were. But it’s completely another thing to know somebody personally. Understanding really comes from deeper engagement.”
And no one was more deeply engaged that Dr. Singh.
Then four blocks from Malcolm X Boulevard, Dr. Singh met up with 20 black people on bikes. According to the NBC affiliate in New York:

I highly doubt dr Singh is white. Did they mean “white Indian”? As he didn’t defend himself with a firearm, probably not. So I suspect the correct description is brown, not white......

They thought he was a goofy white boy wearing a goofy hat meaning a good target. See his photo posted here. I think lots of this black anger-rage is from not having fathers growing up. They take this rage out on white people due to the racism both casual and active in the black community
Me kinda surprised too. He looks like he was born here...Has that kind of look to him.
A lot of Sikhs come from northern India which is actually full of some very Caucasian looking folks.
From my limited knowledge just about all in South India are dark looking while Northern India and Pakistan and Punjab has some really white skinned folks like this mob mugged Sikh man. But dark ones too in Northern India and people inbetween
If by “white” you mean European or American Caucasians dressed in EuroAmerican clothing styles, then Sikhs are not “white.” Otherwise, if Italians, northern and southern, are white then so are Sikhs. They are just as Caucasian as you or me- well I am sure about me, you I haven’t met.
There are blue eyes and light hair among them, not so common as among Icelanders, though.
There are a fair number of white people of European ancestry who have converted to the Sikh religion. It’s a demanding faith, but they are good solid citizens and I would be happy to have more come.
I would imagine that a lot of people in the UK may consider converting to sikhism as it was formed as a response against the islamists when it was formed!
It may be the only way...
