WAVY, the NBC affiliate in Hampton Roads, Virginia asks has zero tolerance gone too far? as it reports this story:
A suspended seventh grade Virginia Beach student will find out soon if he is expelled for the rest of the year for shooting an airsoft gun.
Like thousands of others in Hampton Roads, Khalid Caraballo plays with airsoft guns. Caraballo and his friend Aidan were suspended because they shot two other friends who were with them while playing with the guns as they waited for the school bus.
The two seventh graders say they never went to the bus stop; they fired the airsoft guns while on Caraballo's private property.
Aidans father, Tim Clark, told WAVY.com what happened next lacks commons sense. The children were suspended for possession, handling and use of a firearm. The fire in firearm, of course, refers to gunpowder, which a pellet gun doesnt have. Six children were playing in the Caraballo front yard all together, and the school suspended three it said had discharged the firearm near the school bus stop. The school found out about the kids playing around because a neighbor, the mother of one of the children not suspended, called 911. WAVY tracked her down:

But again - we have inconsistencies - pellet gun or airsoft? And no - I do not condone shooting other children with anything (outside of them being active and willing participants in a game).
Most states consider bus stops to be “school property” for the intent of school children. IF this is the case - and these boys were shooting kids getting off the bus - then something needs to be done.
But I’m not yet convinced that expulsion is the answer.
Shooting each other is the whole purpose of an airsoft gun.
Its intended use is by kids to shoot one another.
Say what you want, but those things hurt even through clothing and winter coats.
I agree. What law in any state gives the school district jurisdiction to tell you what you can and can’t do on your own private property. Are people really that stupid to think the school district has legal standing in this case?
By the time it hits CNN, the weapon in question will be “A fully-automatic assault AK-47 machine-BB gun”. furthermore, they’ll probably claim that the kid bought it at one of those “unregulated Texas gun shows where they sell weapons to escaped mental patients, kids and blind terrorists”.
Fight to replace socialized, singe payer schools with a capitalist school system.

Jeez, these F'ing educators are STUPID.. what is next --- you can't eat MEAT in your own home...?
It was probably an assault-style airsoft weapon. The journalist must be having a bad day to have not thrown that into the horrible account of what the terrorized children, and that mother of a neighbor, had to endure.
According to the school, he was suspended for shooting and hitting kids waiting at a school bus stop.
Not once the school brings up that he was suspended for shooting and hitting kids waiting at a nearby school bus stop.
They were shooting at and hitting kids who were waiting at a school bus stop. They weren’t expelled for playing with guns they were expelled for shooting them at people.
One of these days the media is going to be right when they report a pissed off right winger went off his rocker with a REAL gun.
When I was a kid we’d go into the woods and play war with BB guns. And no one lost an eye.
And there's another problem. The term 'Swat Team' being turned into a verb.
“When I was a kid wed go into the woods and play war with BB guns. And no one lost an eye.”
Back in the idyllic ‘50s when I was a lad, more to be feared than BB gun fights were rock fights - they were sometimes very scary.
Luckily, rocks are no longer available to our youth...
I think it should be treated like a kid who is throwing sticks or pepples at another kid.
If no one was hurt (like blinded by gettng shot in the face), then the matter should be handled at home.
If someone was blinded, the parents should pay medical bills. Not sure what should be done to stupd kids.
If the kids did it on purpose (aiming at someone’s face), then I think something should be done to the kids.
I would feel the same way if some kid was aiming and throwng sticks at another kid’s face with the intent to harm.
My pellet rifle probably looks like a real gun from across the street.
Plus you could put your eye out with that thing kid.
She needs to be shunned - the entire neighborhood needs to divide between decent people who pretend that she and her children do not exist and the parasites who cower in fear with their tattletale leader. The whining mother needs to be excluded from decent society, and her children need to be shunned as well. Good people cannot lie down with dogs, or we (and our kids) will get up with fleas.
I think you and I are the only ones that read the article...
