The Senate plunged into debate over legislation to fund the government while cutting of money for the new health-care law, with both sides accusing the other of threatening to bring about a government shutdown.
[snip] Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) the leading proponent of the bill, set a confrontational tone by quickly proposing two motions he knew would be rejected one to pass the House bill by voice vote, and another to block any amendments that do not command a super-majority of 60 votes.
Both were blocked by Mr. Reid, and Mr. Cruz said that showed he is willing to risk a government shutdown.. in order to insist that Obamacare is funded.

Here are the other two times he set a confrontational tone:

Sent him a thank you note yesterday. If the will of the people is followed Cruz may be sitting in the WH sooner than later. The Dem fatcats don’t seem to like him. That’s a good sign to me...: )
Right now, Ted Cruz is the ONLY Republican I’d even think of voting for to replace the Excrement-in-Chief when its term ends.
We can cave to Obama’s dictatorial style and give up the right to CONFRONT his anti-Constitutional agenda.
THAT’S WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR!!!!
TO CONFRONT!!!!
But the WSJ is against the defund effort, so we should expect them to read from the Democrat/RINO script.
And fortunately, he’s a Republican in name only, as he supports freedom and the constitution.
Calling the mainstream Republicans a “RINO” is a misnomer. They’re outside the traditional party.
Good grief. Senator Cruz is attempting to have an honest dialogue about debt, deficits and spending responsibly as a government.
Reid: Defunding Obamacare dead on arrival in Senate
Dead. Dead?! And who's "confrontational" again?!
Of course the Dems are never confrontational.
Pray America is Waking up
Good. About damn time SOMEBODY set a confrontational tone.
You are the first I have seen suggest that, joking I assume.
I always thought it suspicious that not one of those 40 or 50 House ‘conservatives, such as Lour Gomert TX, stepped up to challenge Bohner as House Speaker January 3 or 3rd.
So now the last ditch strategy if Cruz cant stop this in Senate is to depend on Bohner putting his finger in the Dike, meaning not putting up the Senate bill for a vote.
And if he does do that(pass it with Dems) there would be the ritual surprise and outrage and teeth gnashing over Boehners betrayal even though he did the same thing twice BEFORE he was re-elected speaker in January.
But its not over year. CR not passed yet.
The Democrats who refuse to compromise aren’t confrontational?
he’s in the Senate, not the house.
>>> You are the first I have seen suggest that, joking I assume.
Meant to say Majority Leader... my bad.
I need more coffee!!!
Minority Leader!!!.... McConnell’s job!
Call the gutless McConnell and his girlfriend, Juan, or any other gutless wonder in DC at:

Senator Cruz, a real patriot, cannot do it alone. It takes 60 votes against cloture. Some of the stupid Republicans will vote with the Dems and will get the 60 votes.
Unless people can put extreme pressure on their senators, the Senate will throw out what the House passed and all is lost.
Too many people are too busy to call their senators and demand they stand with Cruz, Lee, etc.
