E.W. Jackson says non-Christians are engaged in ‘some sort of false religion’
The Washington Post ^ | 9/23/13 | Michael Laris

Posted on 09/23/2013 2:38:42 PM PDT by shego

At a morning sermon Sunday in Northern Virginia, Republican lieutenant governor candidate E.W. Jackson, a Chesapeake pastor, said people who don’t follow Jesus Christ “are engaged in some sort of false religion.”

Jackson offered that view while describing a list of the “controversial” things he believes, and that must be said, as a Christian....

It is not the first time Jackson has weighed in with controversial comments on questions of faith and social issues. He has also said that gay people’s “minds are perverted. They are frankly very sick people psychologically and mentally and emotionally.”...

He’s right.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

“Jews consider Christianity a false religion.”

Actually, they don’t.

Jews are not engaged in false religion...he’s wrong on that point.

Correct about the homosexual...scripture says they are given over to depraved minds.

He was preaching a Sunday sermon...

Would you ask that he not be “overtly preachy” in that context?

Would it help if he just quit the pulpit?

… according to a recording of the sermon by a Democratic tracker.
Funny that the ComPost did not feature the alleged “recording” on their website.

Please offer some examples of “convert or die” Christianity - and how would such a thing be remotely related to being conservative?

I am genuinely puzzled.

For at least the last hundred years, the convert or die method of evangelism has only been used by Muslims, taoists, and atheists.

Ohhhh - let’s examine that.

Jesus came declaring he was the Messiah.
Jews say the Messiah is yet to come.

The Jews believe the very premise of Christianity is false.

How can a religion built on a false premise not be considered false?

“Please offer some examples of “convert or die” Christianity”

Basically the last 2000 years of history, the last 75 or so in the USA being the bear lone (and wonderful) exception.

I have no problem, personally, with his theological perspective. It’s Christianity 101, and to be expected.

The problem, however, is he is also Republican lieutenant governor candidate who happens to be a preacher and fits the false belief so unfortunately common in Jewish circles that “conservatism” and “Judaism” are mutually exclusive.

Do you say that Jews are not engaged in a false religion from a Christian viewpoint? Or are you asserting the Jewish viewpoint? From a Christian viewpoint, the Jewish religion, as practiced, is false. You cannot expect a Christian pastor to preach from other than a Christian viewpoint - if he does, he is wrong.

Christian theology asserts that Christ is the Messiah.
Christian theology asserts that the Old Testament points to the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ as Savior and Messiah.
Jews reject the foundational belief of Christianity as false - and continue to worship God as if the Messiah has not yet come.

If my religion says Christ is the Messiah, the risen Lord and your religion says He is not, then at least one of them is wrong, or false.

True conservatives don’t pander. The truth is what it is and we don’t sugarcoat the facts to spare other people’s feelings. If they were interested in the truth, they would support conservative candidates.

Are you saying that Jews commonly practice fallacious reasoning:
A Republican is a Christian - therefore Republicans are anti-Judaism.
There is no logic in your fears. Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and Calypso Louis are all open anti-Semites and Democrats. I know of no openly anti-Semitic Republicans.

The KKK was almost exclusively democrats.

Are you saying that most Jews are ignorant, or just illogical?

Should Republicans just dumb down, lie, or exclude Christians from the party, or from seeking office?
