Pyongyang Orders Diplomats Children Home
By Alexander Martin
Biography Worried about possible threats to regime stability from North Korean children educated abroad, Pyongyang has ordered its diplomats and state trading company officials stationed overseas to send their children back to the North, an expert on the secretive regime says.
Kansai University Prof. Lee Young Hwa said the order was the first of its kind passed under the Norths young leader Kim Jong Un, according to information he received from a North Korean trading official in China. The order, with a deadline set for the end of September, allows only one child per household to stay with each official abroad.
The order apparently stems from Pyongyangs concern that children receiving an overseas education could undermine stability by spreading information about the outside world, or defecting.

P!
I can see the US Dept of Education trying to do something like this in regard to Homeschooled children...
Really hard to indoctrinate the lambs if they aren't in their detention centers...
Now would be a good time to slip away into the darkness with the family. You know if they don’t comply, the executions will begin again.
I am surprised that any of these kids were allowed out. Schools in other countries won’t teach the kids to worship “Dear Leader”. This would be most troubling in that these kids are to be part of the ruling class. This could put non-believers in positions of power in the future.
Wow, I just read an article last night suggesting that the United States should undertake an “important effort” “to try to denuclearize North Korea by encouraging North Korea to experience the outside world. Educational and cultural experiences by the North Korean people can force a significant change. The US should [also] advocate for the use of an international educational exchange programs with North Korea.”
This article was in the Asia Times and titled: US needs cultural weapons for North Korea. The author is Brian Min.

Is Pyongyang’s action a response to Min’s suggestion?
The dangers of them getting a real education...
I'm afraid it doesn't work that way in NK...truly just about the most evil regime on the planet
If you don't comply...your immediate family, your grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews all go off to labor camps...
In North Korea, not only are the families and relatives of the criminals forced into concentrated camps, but second generations and third generations of the criminals are forced into prison camps as well because the North Korean state believes that "further generation of counterrevolutionaries" should disappear Link
As a teacher of some of those children, wow!
Yes, it's difficult dealing with the knowledge that the kids are "privileged", and come form a regime that deserves to be blasted into the stone age (no not the common people), but I still have fond memories of teaching many of these North Korean kids, many of whom were similar, and just as talented as their South Korean counterparts.
Bump
Very Stalinist. Stalin did this for overseas USSR diplomatic posts.
