Great plan. Let see if the Senate is willing to shut down each individual agency one at a time. Then when we have all of the essential provided for, we stop. Maybe this is the way we should do it every time from now on.

Well done, Jim. But I’d suggest one change in your order. Defense first. We are at war, and I suspect you’d agree with me when I say our troops should lack for nothing.

I wonder just how much money is being saved by NOT funding commie-care?

This year, two years, ten years worth of savings?

Not only defund the tyranny that is DeathCare, but broadcast the names of Congressman and every Senator who votes to keep DeathCare and organize and work to defeat all of them come 2014 and 2016. Post their names every day on FR and on blogs.

Organize and volunteer on campaigns to replace every one of them.

This is from Senate Conservatives...

Senate Republicans Must Oppose Cloture to Stop Harry Reid's Plan to Fund Obamacare

"Any Republican who votes for cloture is voting to fund Obamacare."

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) called on Senate Republicans to oppose cloture on Harry Reid's attempt to fund Obamacare with a simple majority.

SCF Executive Director, Matt Hoskins, made the following statement:

"Americans won a major victory today when the House passed legislation to fund the government without funding Obamacare, but now the debate shifts to the Senate where Harry Reid and the Democrats will try to fund Obamacare. The Democrats have a plan to fund Obamacare, but Republicans can stop it if they stick together.

"Harry Reid needs 60 votes to approve his plan to fund Obamacare. If 41 Republicans stand strong and oppose cloture, they can defeat Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. However, if Republicans waffle and vote for cloture, it will grease the skids for Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. It's pretty simple — any Republican who votes for cloture is voting to fund Obamacare.

"This is a critical test for Senate Republicans and especially for Mitch McConnell, the Republican Leader. It's time for Mitch McConnell to show some leadership and deliver the 41 votes needed to defeat cloture on Harry Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. Republicans like to say they are against Obamacare, but now is the time to prove it. Now is when it matters."

Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) is an independent, grassroots organization that advocates for conservative policies in Washington and helps elect true conservative leaders to the United States Senate.

Call your Senators, NOW! OPPOSE Dingy Harry's CLOTURE!!

Excellent post, boss.

I just stole it and sent it to both of my senators and am about to send it to all of the Louisiana reps. I’ll be making phone calls later, too. If I can get through, this will be my message.

Time to hold the line!

Love,
O2

While I don’t mean to be critical, if the goal is to defund the unconstitutional federal behemoth, why list as your first appropriations bill, two completely unconstitutional programs hugely to blame for the size of the current behemoth and on course to bankrupt the country?

Ted Cruz was just on with Mark Levin. He gives all of us a challenge to get 5 other people to sign the petition at dontfundit.com and call their representatives. He said this can be done.

Zero for the EPA! Zero for the federal departments of commerce, labor, energy, transportation, agriculture, housing, health, education and welfare, etc., etc., etc. Return all these functions to the states and the people per the U.S. Constitution!
I'm on board with that CONSTITUTIONAL action completely!

The rest of it too.

Make the politicians stand up like American men and start being honest with their "governing" according to the Manual, The Constitution.

We can’t kill ObamaCare until we have both houses of Congress and the White House. Best we can hope for is defund, which is nothing more than delay.

And then what? Mid-terms are next year, and we could regain control of the Senate. What’s the campaign strategy after we’ve delayed ObamaCare?

YOU: Vote Republican so that we can kill ObamaCare once and for all!

VOTER: Why? ObamaCare has been the law of the land since 2010, and things aren’t so bad.

YOU: That’s only because we’ve successfully delayed full implementation of ObamaCare. Had it been fully implemented on January 1, we’d be in deep $hit right now.

VOTER: Yeah, whatever. That’s what you’ve been saying for fours years. Things aren’t so bad.

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I think the only way to get a popular uprising resulting in our recapturing the Senate in 2014, is to let ObamaCare go into full force, unhindered in any way, on January 1.

We’ve argued, debated, and warned for five years about the disaster that is ObamaCare. To no avail. But seeing is believing.

The GOP should very publicly say, “You wanted ObamaCare, then you’ll get ObamaCare — in full force — on January 1. We won’t block a thing. Full speed ahead. Vote accordingly in November 2014.”

We’ve got nothing to lose from a government shutdown. We win both ways by holding the line.

Any federal program that is otherwise seen as essential ought to be taken over by the state governments to which it is vital. If, for example, states see national parks within their borders as absolutely essential to their tourism industries, those parks ought to become state parks. The same goes for transportation security and anything else that might eventually go on the chopping block.

State taxes will most likely go up to reflect the increase cost of such a change of hands but there is a huge difference in terms of liberty between such overarching powers being in the hands of the federal government and having them in the hands of state governments. State governments are far more accountable than the federal government ever can be.

With the federal government shut down it’s not like there is very much it could do about it in the long run if it remains shut down. Shut it down and leave it shut down until the respective states are able to set something else up in its place, something more akin to what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they created the federal government in the first place.

The alternative is simply more of the same — the current federal government will NEVER be fixed. Power, by its nature, seeks expansion. It will never contract of its own volition.

OK, here is the message I sent to the hopeless Senators from Washington State, Murry and Cantwell.

My wife and I and everyone who I know are terrible opposed to the “train wreck” of Obamacare and urge you to join the Republicans in defunding this drag on our economy which will push up premiums for many Americans. Far from being the “affordable” plan, it causes health care inflation and hurts private insurance, causing some companies to go out of business. We know people who have had their hours cut because of this disastrous bill. Instead of helping “the little guy” this bill hurt average Americans. We strongly oppose it. Thanks.
