Testifying before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Admiral Mike Mullen said that the direction given to Special Operations Command Africa commander Lt. Col Gibson was to "hold in place" on the night of the attacks.

Mullen also said that U.S. aircraft were not at the ready while the attack was ongoing. He claimed there was a "physics problem" in addition to a "time and distance problem" that prevented the United States from providing immediate air cover.

"Time and distance problem"??? THIS IS HINDSIGHT.

It's astonishing how they knew how long the attack would last before it had stopped. I wish I had that kind of psychic ability.

China ... or NSA?

http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/foreign-hackers-targeted-former-military-chief-mullen-report-1C7455842

The hackers targeted Mr. Mullen’s personal computers, which he used while working on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy since his retirement in 2011, according to officials and others familiar with the probe. Those people said FBI agents took away two computers in late October and returned them in mid-November.

One official said that evidence gathered by the FBI points to China as the origin of the hacking, and that it appeared the perpetrators were able to access a personal email account of Mr. Mullen. The official declined to be more specific.

Dec. 5, 2012

The hackers targeted personal computers Mullen used while working on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, after his retirement in 2011, the report said, citing officials and others familiar with the probe.

One official said the evidence pointed to China as the origin of the hacking and that it appeared the hackers were able to access a personal email account.

A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington told the Journal he was not aware of the investigation and that his government prohibits cyber attacks.

Okay, so “WHO” told SpecOps to hold in place? And a physics problem? What? They had to fly over the poles?

He claimed there was a "physics problem" in addition to a "time and distance problem" that prevented the United States from providing immediate air cover.

He's a damned liar.

How could he know that, when there was no way to know how long the fight would be going on, beforehand?

And we have NATO air support in Sigonella, Italy, and in Greece.

So like a damned liar, he says the US could not immediately provide cover, but there were non US assets that could have been brought to bear until we could get there.

Obama does not want us to know two things:

1.What was going on at Benghazi with Stevens and the CIA.

2. What the heck HE was doing that evening, in the white House.

That is the truth they think we can't handle.

A “time and distance” problem? Perhaps we should purchase the good Admiral a map and a calculator. There was no time and distance problem that day.

Here is the Physics 101 problem:

Objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted on by another force.

Lt. Col puts special forces in motion, White House exerts force and orders those motions halted.

The sad fact is that they didn’t know how long the attacks would last or if it would have turned into a hostage crisis. The fact is they did nothing when they should have been moving..even if they arrived late.

And? Who gave that order? How high up the chain did this extend? Without that information knowing a “stand down” order was given is pointless.

Physicists do not, and cannot,
decide how long an observed fight will last.

A traitor does, or does not care.

... Lt. Col Gibson was to "hold in place" on the night of the attacks.

Who gave Lt. Col. Gibson the order to, "hold in place?"

And then, who gave the person who ordered Lt. Col. Gibson to, "hold in place," the order to tell Lt. Col. Gibson to, "hold in place?" And so on ...

Is it that difficult or am I missing something?

Unless a carrier has/had jets on alert sitting on deck, aircraft would not have been ready. Navy, Marines or Air Force. Very few, if any fighter squadrons have birds on alert. Even if you could scramble them, the best you could hope for is a show of force (flying low, loud, and letting them know you’re there) or popping flares.

There’s alot that goes in to maintaining an alert bird that people don’t know about, or have been misguided about because of what they see in movies.

Don’t know anything about physics problems though.

Regarding Spec Ops being told to stand down, not surprised. Fast roping dudes onto the scene or close by would have probably made a huge difference. Then again, so would a low flying jet.

Whatever you do for a living, can you imagine telling your boss that the reasons you didn’t get a task done was due to physics and time/distance problems? If that type of excuse was allowed and tolerated, that company or organization wouldn’t be around very long. Only in the government....
