The crew has been herded to the upper deck and forced to stay there kneeled at gunpoint. Some crewman locked themselves in the radioshack. A search is underway, doors are being beaten out. The Russians have been claiming portions of the Arctic Sea as territorial waters, in defiance of all international treaties. It could be that Greenpeace is in the right, here, and trying to enforce international right to navigation. A job the United States Navy used to do, before it got caught up in babysitting the Middle East 24/7.

This past Thursday, armed Russian officials raided a Greenpeace ship dubbed the Arctic Sunrise and held the activists aboard it at gunpoint. Eventually, they arrested them.
Information shared with the public says that the Russian officials raided the Arctic Sunrise in an attempt to keep the Greenpeace members from protesting Russian oil company Gazprom by boarding one of its oil platforms in the Pechora Sea in the Russian Arctic.
Presently, workers aboard this oil platform are looking to drill for oil in said region. The Greenpeace activists, who strongly oppose drilling in the Arctic, have already staged a protest against their plans.
Thus, it was only this past Wednesday when two greenheads attempted to scale the oil platform. They were caught and arrested by Russian coastguards.
The Arctic Sunrise’s raid occurred in the aftermath of this incident, Daily Mail tells us.
