Austin is more yuppie ideological liberal. Chicago has some of those but is more corrupt machine democrat.
San Fran or Berkley is a better comparison.
UT is not yet Berkeley. They still have not removed the Confederate statues. However, they did change the name of Simkins because the old guy was not politically correct. The administration has some delusions of being an IVY, which is why they HATE having to take in kids who graduated from poor high schools in the top ten of their classes. They prefer their minorities to have the right polish.
