Senate Republican John McCain, one of the most vocal advocates for American military intervention in the crisis in Syria, is firing back after Russian President Vladimir Putins op-ed in the New York Times last week, in which the Russian chastised Americans for considering a military strike in Syria and slammed the notion of American exceptionalism.
In an op-ed submitted to the Russian newspaper Pravda, McCain tells the Russian people that Putin "rules for himself, not you." The piece was posted on the paper's website, Pravda.ru, shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, Moscow time.
He also says that although he has been characterized in the Russian media as anti-Russian over the years, he believes he is more pro-Russian than the Putin regime, which he says misrules its people.
McCain tells Russian citizens they deserve to live in a society where they can live freely and in accordance with the inalienable rights enjoyed by Americans under the Constitution.
President Putin doesnt believe in these values because he doesnt believe in you, McCain writes. He doesnt believe that human nature at liberty can rise above its weaknesses and build just, peaceful, prosperous societies. Or, at least, he doesnt believe Russians can. So he rules by using those weaknesses, by corruption, repression and violence."
McCain also addresses Putins alliance with Syrian President BasharAssad, saying Russians deserve a leader who will not fight on the side of a brutal dictator who carried out a chemical weapons attack against his own people. He says Putins allegiance to Assad is hurting Russias international stature.

Mcgoof please stop your anti-Russian crap. Take your night cap and go to bed.
John McCain, Obama’s bitch since 2007.
McPain needs a one way ticket out of the political arena. His brain is fried.
“Still I get it. Hes scapegoating all Russias problems on the fags”
So what’s your agenda here?
Oh, really? Russia GDP was increased with 250% (30% increase per year) since Putin's first eight years as president. I call that a success. In 2000 the GDP was 7,305,600 millon roubles, in 2009 - 39,952,177 million. The industry grew by 75%, investments increased by 125%, and the average salary increased eightfold from $80 to $640. The number of people living below the poverty line decreased from 30% in 2000 to 14% in 2008.
Even the quality of post-Soviet Russian education is improving. In 1995, Russia was ranked 14th and 15th, respectively, in math and science out of 59 countries. In 2011, it ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.
If Russia deserves better than Putin, what about America which deserves much better than Obama (and his bootlicker McCain)?
I’ve the normal conservative traditional agenda. I’m pro-freedom, pro-capitalism, and a believer in the US Constitution. I’m not pro foreign despot, and don’t believe Putin, President for Life, is someone to cheer. He’s setback any efforts for freedom in Russia. He’ll be in power longer than the Iranian nut Adminejad. I also still love my country even when we elect the wrong president.
>>>How do you say STFU in po russki?<<<
Pashol nah khuy.
OK, but you post that Putin is blaming all of his Country’s problems on gays which is a joke.
So it appears that although you are conservative, you are very protective of the homosexual agenda and are willing to carry their water.
No, I just don’t believe in Putin’s phony Gay bashing. I think it’s just his way to pretend he’s a conservative. I don’t support special treatment for homosexuals, and I don’t support an idiot who is cruel to his own people and to homosexuals using the anti-Gay agenda for his personal political benefit. It’s stupid and cruel. If Putin’s a conservative who wants to save people, he could end abortion in Russia. But he won’t. He won’t tolerate a real conservative Christianity either. He’s a flippin’ fraud. So I’m shocked that so many Americans don’t see through him just because he bashes Gays and mocks the feckless bozo Obama.
