Corruption: As the layers on the IRS scandal are peeled back, it's become increasingly clear the law has been broken and the White House may have been far more deeply involved than claimed. Time for a special prosecutor.
A House investigation has found that, far from being a case of "rogue agents" in Cincinnati as the White House has claimed, the IRS harassment of conservative groups appears to have been directed from the very top in Washington, D.C.
IRS employees say they were made "acutely" aware as far back as 2010 that President Obama wanted to go after tea party and other conservative groups, the Washington Times reports. Not wanting to disappoint, they did what they thought they were supposed to do.
"As prominent politicians publicly urged the IRS to take action on tax-exempt groups engaged in legal campaign intervention activities," the House report said, "the IRS treated tea party applications differently."
That's bad enough. But other newly discovered IRS documents, USA Today reported Wednesday, "show the agency flagged political groups based on the content of their literature, raising concerns specifically about 'anti-Obama rhetoric,' inflammatory language and 'emotional' statements made by nonprofits seeking tax-exempt status."
A 2011 IRS document named 162 groups along with comments by IRS lawyers in Washington. Just 11 of those were liberal or "progressive" in political orientation. The political bias is absolutely clear.

It's like we're living in the old USSR...
The media will surely do that but the biggest stumbling block is Eric Holder who’d have to appoint any special prosecutor. Chances of that happening are zero to none. These times are not comparable to any others in recent American history. I’m very worried about what the administration may do by Executive fiat between now and the 2016 elections.
Impeachment file on arrogant B. Hussein Obama, aka Harrison J. Bounel, or Barry Soetoro, currently a legal citizen of the sovereign nation of Indonesia.
Impeachment should happen, even if its certain the Senate wont convict, the turkey in the WH deserves that for his legacy.
I second that. I can't imagine the rubber stamp House of Representatives coming up with enough courage even to consider impeachment, but that would be the right thing to do.
what more do they need to form a Grand Jury??
You nailed it right out of the gate.
...never going to happen...
R-I-C-O
“It’s like we’re living in the old USSR...” It should. We are dealing with people sharing the same ideology and goals.
Borhner has skeletons. This is why.
So true.
Fake nonsense when jail cells should await Holder and Obie, plus Hitlery.
PAGING DARRELL ISSA!!! Get HILLARY in front of your committee...UNDER OATH!! NOW!!
And the man who got an MCA board member named Howard Baker to replace Donald Regan (who was too “divisive”) was Robert Strauss (former Democrat chairman) who was brought in under the request of Nancy Reagan and Michael Deaver.
Democrat chairmen and Republicans who buddy up with Tommy Dasshole in “non-partisan think tanks” don't strike me as having the interests of Reaganite conservatism at their own interests.
The book NEGLECTS to mention that it was boardmember Strauss who referred Reagan to Baker. The book tried to play up Reagan's actor past history to Lew Wasserman (last of the Hollywood moguls). Strauss was mentioned elsewhere in the book by name as a figure in the scandal.
I couldn't find any web coverage linking (or denying linkage) between Lew Wasserman and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's families.
The book also never outs just who it was Sal Pisello was doing a job for at MCA or what that illicit job had been (extortion or otherwise).
There are some odd comments here and there in the book against “right wingers” and “Republican dark suits” from the L.A. author of the book.
And no outing of who it was in the Justice Department that ultimately shielded MCA and the mob from criminal prosecution.
Ultimately the goosechase book has no firm payoff. The allegations (from thousands of hours of taped wiretaps and hidden cameras and observations by Brian Williams, among others) were never proven in court (because of outside forces) and those accountable were never held to their crimes. Even after publication, they never appear to have gotten their comeuppance.
bump
They probably didn’t like who was the real culprits and wrote the book to cast shadows and faint blame at others.
In searching for a Debbie Wasserman/Lew Wasserman connection, I noticed that Lew Wasserman’s grandson has a company and is linked to Bill Clinton.
Plenty of Democrats tied to Hollywood.
The book gets funny in turns because of discussions of Rev. Al Sharpton (who’s shakedown rackets of labels “for not enough black employees” for payoffs to go away is known in the industry) and Al Gore Jr. (who followed his PMRC hearings with an attempt to ride the coattails of payola investigations on his way to a 1988 White House run). Rudy Giuliani is also referenced in parts because of his chase for John Gotti and other mob figures.
Dems/Hollywood/TheMob just one big happy family.
Thanks.
Also from the book, I gleamed details on some MCA crony who was related to the Democrat mayor of Dallas who heartily pushed for a favorable 40 year contract to MCA and PACE concerts (later merged with Clear Channel later to be named Live Nation) on a civic venue.
