Obama: 'Raising the Debt Ceiling...Does Not Increase Our Debt,' Though It Has 'Over 100 Times'
CNS News ^ | September 18, 2013 | Craig Bannister

Raising the debt ceiling doesn't increase the nation's debt, Pres. Obama declared in a speech today.

In a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Obama dismissed concerns about raising the debt ceiling by noting that it'd been done so many times in the past:

"Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved."

Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt:

"It's always a tough vote because the average person thinks raising the debt ceiling must mean that we're running up our debt, so people don't like to vote on it, and, typically, there's some gamesmanship in terms of making the President's party shoulder the burden of raising the -- taking the vote."

But, isn't the fact that the U.S. has hit its debt ceiling "over a hundred times" - and, thus, has had to keep raising it - proof that raising the limit does, in fact, lead to increased debt?

2+2=5. Keep repeating that or be re-educated.
People actually believe it which is mind-blowingingly ignorant. How can a rational thinking person believe that by going into more debt, you actually have less debt?

The best way to fix a broken system is to SHUT IT DOWN, and THEN fix it.

Speaker Newt SHUT DOWN the US Federal Government in the 1990’s and it WORKED!

Clinton then took credit for balanced Federal Budgets, fewer people were in poverty, and all because Newt said NO !

The Liberal Agenda Media and the Democrats boo-hooed to this day, but Newt achieved success.

The only way to force a spoiled brat to behave is to punish, punish, punish.

The worst punishment that a Democrat, or RINO can imagine is to take away their ability to spend our tax dollars.

The best way to do that is to shutdown the non-essental parts of the US Federal Government, starting with mothballing Air Force One.

Why not have the true Republicans require a BINDING, updated, “Federal Financial Impact Statement” for 2012-2013 fiscal year, and 2013-2014 f. y. for Obama”care?”

It should take a month or two to complete, allow for a vote to delay Obama”care” for a year, and then show the great financial harm to our Economy that the Statement’s numbers will document.

Wharton, Stanford, Michigan and Princeton could also file their independent Financial Impact Statements to compare to the Office of Budget and the Congressional Budget Office Financial Impact Statements.

As B. Hussein is fond of saying: “We need to get all the facts first.”

Borrowing more money doesn’t increase our debt. A second-grader could see that this statement is absurd.

He’s either very dumb or he thinks we are.

What do you expect from a ‘community organizer’ who couldn’t make change for a dine if he had two nickels?

I guess the republicans felt like they had to come up with a plan......but instead of trying to fix Obamacare they should permanently kill it and start over.

I agree Obama is out to lunch about the budget.

Problem is, so are the GOP.

Bring back American jobs. To America. Now.

Time for the 25th Amendment.

The Dems may have to resort to this to save their chances in 2014.

The sad part is there are a lot of folks running around loose that believe this BS.

You got that right !

Once a politician gets elected to a Federal office, they promptly forget about the “Fecal Federal Finger” effect.

Every area of endeavor that the US Federal Government touches with its Federal Fecal Finger always turns to Obamadung, Obama”care” has proven that.

Here is what Obama is really doing:

CapOne credit card Rep: Thank you for calling CapOne. This is Rand Paul. What can I do to help you today?

President Obama: Uh, this is Barack Obama. Michelle, the kids and I have really been working hard and went on a lot of vacations the past few years.

We have always made the interest payments on our card, but we seem to have hit the ceiling...again.

Could you raise the limit so that we can continue our hard work?

Just because you raise it does not mean we will use the extra amount. It is just so we have flexibility in the case of an emergency or a vacation.

Customer Service Rep Paul: Well, can you share with me what cuts you will be making in your household budget to make sure your do not need to use the new amount?

President Obama: Oh no! We will not be cutting anything. There will be no negotiation on that point. I inherited these bills and If you expect me to cut any costs then I will not accept the increase I am asking you for and I will have to default on the interest payments.

Customer Service Rep Paul: But, Mr. President. You make enough to continue making the interest payments, correct?

President Obama: Of course we do. I just refuse to cut out any of the costs of running this household. So, if you do not give me the increase with my terms. You will have forced me to default.

Silence

President Obama: Hello! hello! Is there anyone there?
