Sounds about right. A SWAT team makes it to the right address, at the right time, a near miraculous feat all by itself, and they are told to stand down.

GWB and the Republicans had 6 straight years to fix a lot of things that were wrong. They used that 6 years to make more things wrong and now, we are supposed to trust them as the alternative to Obama and the Democrats? There is no way I will trust anyone simply because they have an “R” after their name and no longer will I ever vote for the lesser of two evils. Bush could have fixed the nonsense but was too busy spending money, creating the TSA and No Child Left Behind.

weapons with them, but they didn’t have ammunition

That's called a fence post. Having a fence post does not count as armed...

In view of this, GIVE US BACK OUR AMMO —the 2 billion rounds.

WHAT is it for? Executing us..?

It is certainly not to deal with a legitimate defensive need.

At Columbine, a SWAT team in full battle rattle was on-scene in NO time.

Then per SOP they went no further —they waited for hours, hearing screaming and gunfire, doing nothing.

HOW HAVE THINGS CHANGED..?

LEO’s made huge hay of the fact that post-Columbine SWAT SOP’s had changed —that it wouldn’t happen like that again.

It HAS happened nearly like that again, and in the DC at a military base.

GIVE US BACK OUR AMMO.

Reminds me of the story told in my family regarding the onset of the Spanish Civil War. It seems the government did not trust its own military, so it ordered rifles, bolts, bayonets, and ammunition to be stored in separate widely spread depots. When the time came to defend the Republic, officers had nothing but their riding crops, and their men had nothing but dismantled rifles. Still they charged across heavily defended plazas against entrenched machine gun positions, with tragically predictable results. - "Fear the government that fears your guns."

I don’t believe soldiers and marines have had ready access to private or even issued arms during CONUS duty since the Korean war; this is not a new thing. I was active duty from ‘83-’90, both CONUS and ROK, and at each installation, perosnal arms had to be secured at the unit armory, and our issued arms were also stored there, only drawn during training, range, or in Korea, during alerts. Talking to a number of vets, this was the case at least back to the 1950’s... maybe even longer, but I don’t have data to support that. I agree that this is dumb, I thought so then, but trying to blame Obama for it just doesn’t hold water.

This is what Democrats do: They arm our enemies and disarm Americans.

Isn’t the death toll of the innocent already @24, from Ft Hood and now the Navy Yard? That’s not counting the injured and multiple generations of family members of the deceased and injured whose lives will never be the same?

I hate a headline like that. Same headline happened in Turkey a few times (Air Force and Army too) circa 1974-1979. Unfortunately, I've been there.

It has happened in other theaters, and embassies too.

Really sux.

I’d certainly vote yes.

I am watching/listening to “9/11 Voices From The Air” on National Geographic. It’s been years, yet it seems like yesterday.... my blood is still boiling. Everything Obama and his dems do, seem to beg for that nightmare to happen again.

When we had a draft, the military had a different flavor to it. It was maleable for other purposes.

Not so much now. They are highly trained, focused, and coordinated with cutting edge technology and gear. The government fears them. It's why I think we will have a permanent war in lands far away for decades to come. They don't want them back unless they can declare them PTSD and prevent them from being armed as citizens. That comes with any Veterans Administration hospital visit. Even if it's for strep throat.
