I usually do so from a small locally owned and operated place, not a big national chain.

Dunkin Donuts has individual franchises; I believe Starbucks is all part of the national chain.

I stopped going to Starbucks when they decided to join the smoke-nazi fight and prohibit it outside their stores. Not smoking inside I can abide, but prohibitions outside are ridiculous.

I carry my concealed handgun everywhere. I will not be going to their stores in any case. I only went there to buy bags of coffee beans. They no longer carry a good decaf. They stopped carrying decaf Verona and now don’t carry decaf Pike’s Place. This latest no guns ‘request’ makes it appear that they only want to appeal to a smaller demographic that does not include me.

Sgt. Schultz is giving an open invitation to armed thug stick-up men that they get a free ride at Starbucks. Way to go Sarge!

Fifty years ago the customers said the same thing about blacks.

I suggest an "open letter" to the CEO and his public relations department and make that comparison.

They will claim there is no connection, but it will force them to confront their hypocrisy.

It is their right to ask. Let’s see if it turns out to be a wise business choice for them.

Of course, if you are going to use this strained analogy, you must admit the validity of the somewhat less-strained analogy behind interracial and same-sex marriage.

Blacks are people, guns are objects.

Starbucks has every right to not be used as a stage by either side of the issue. Their mission (quite rightly) is to make money for their owners, not to be political advocates.

Blacks are people, guns are objects.

Guns are more than that.....say a woman who has a PFA against an abusive ex. They are life itself in some instances.

And the left does. not. care.

I won't be taking my money or gun to Starbucks. Let the crazy gun-free zone hunters have at it!

Do not disagree. But saying that asking guns to stay out is “just the same” as refusing service to a class of people is an overly strained analogy.

Their mission (quite rightly) is to make money for their owners, not to be political advocates......unless of course we are talking gay marriage. Then the CEO can shout at shareholders at the stockholders meeting who disagree.

Fixed it for you!

Here’s the deal Howard. I am a loyal three times a week Starbuck’s customer. That ends TODAY.

Dear Howard Schultz,

You can’t make up your own laws in this country (law enforcement permission to open carry.) That particular “law” to open carry is found in our original Rights as citizens of these United States. We do not need law enforcement permission at all or for any reason other than we want to carry.

Now, under the law your stores have every ability to post that little “no guns allowed” sticker. And many of us will abide by those wishes, but what you cannot do is require us to have some sort of permission from law enforcement where Constitutionally it is not required.

Dear Howie, if I may call you that: I can no longer visit Starbucks as your store is no longer safe. If some lunatic enters your store with a gun intending to do harm, disregarding your letter and most likely violating one of the thousands of gun laws, there will be no law-abiding armed citizen to protect me. In today’s lunatic society I just can’t take that chance.

First: Starbucks coffee sucks.
Second: Open carry is stupid (”Shoot me first”).
Third: Concealed means concealed

Finally, I think I’m going to post an open letter for my business:

“We recognize that fashion is an extremely personal choice and that styles that appeal to one person do not necessarily appeal to another person. In fact, some people find certain fashion choices offensive. With that in mind, we ask that male customers pull up their pants. This is not an outright ban on sagging. Customers who choose to wear their pants low will still be served. Our staff will not specifically demand that you refrain from sagging in our store. Still, in the interest of respecting all of our customers, we respectfully ask you to pull up your damn pants. Thank you.”

He forget to add “Criminals- this means you too!”

That should keep his stores safe.

The presence of a weapon in our stores is unsettling and upsetting for many of our customers.

Why doesn't he "request" that these people refrain from being unsettled or upset at the sight of a firearm. Their reaction is, after all, a choice.

Dear Howard Schultz,

Blow it out your a**.
Moxie Java is better, anyway, and it's based in Boise, not your fruity, hipster faggot town.

Sincerely,
A responsible gun owner who loves coffee...just not yours
