NBC News reports that Aaron Alexis was armed with "an assault-style rifle, a shotgun and a handgun" when he was killed in a shootout with authorities. Law enforcement told NBC "they believed he arrived packing only the shotgun, which he bought last week from a gun dealer in Lorton, Va., about 20 miles from Washington."
The Washington DC local NBC affiliate says that sources informed them "that surveillance footage showed that he began his attack with a shotgun, but was found with a 9mm pistol and an AR-15 assault rifle."
The suspected gunman appeared to have seized firearms from two of his victims as he moved through the building along the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, where 3,000 Navy employees go to work each day, many of them carrying authorized firearms.

He wasn’t mentioning names like Trayvon, during the incident, was he?
The check point of entry did not catch this guy. The installation’s security sucks. (Dick Marcinko has been telling them for years.) Our military has been “liberalized.” Obama has made it worse.
My thoughts exactly
You wouldn’t hear this from our local news, -
the announcer gravely informed us the suspect used ‘AR-15 assault rifle’, (quote) like the one used in Sandy Hook Elementary School (unquote).
When I worked at one of the labs, they checked our badges like we were criminals.
Basically, he could have arrived with a baseball bat....whacked the first guard....taken his weapons....and done all the damage from that point on. It’d dismay the gun-rights folks that he used a non-weapon to gain a real-weapon, but that’s the reality of this mess.
A black-hispanic? No. A white doped-up kid? No. A black nutcase guy who should have been in a facility? Probably so.
How many nut-case security guys work for the Pentagon in DC? That’s going to be one of those funny review episodes. I’m guessing someone will order a full review and find at least a dozen civilians working for the Pentagon security structure....who ought not be in security or handling a weapon.
As for all this PTSD stuff with this guy? No....he was nuts before he arrived to be a sailor. I think we will find over the coming weeks that he did various drugs as a kid, and had some events which the parents just overlooked.
This bit of news just might cause senator Feinstein to be placed on sucide watch. And of course there’s Obama; can’t wait to see how he gets out of his gaff....
12 people killed by a black guy and the media is almost silent.......
Well, to keep our public safe, we will just have to pass laws taking those AR-15s... and 9MM pistols away from security guards! It is for the children, you know--

Gungrabbers won’t let facts interfere with their agenda.
Wasn’t part of the biden strategy firing shots in the air?
THAT is where we are today.....
eric holder and obama’s team recently made it almost illegal (or really illegal) for employers to even ask about past criminal activity when hiring- another eric holder “felons as a protected class” initiative
I’m going to venture a guess about the ownership, hiring practices, and preferred federal govt contract award status of the HP subcontractor who employed this chip-on-the-shoulder nutjob .....
on the other hand...never mind
but hey, getting a seething angry DC-native looking guy into a secure facility with a contractor ID and stealing weapons from hapless fat uneducated unskilled rent-a-cops that make up too many of those hired to protect - another tip for real terrorists
this guy obviously had a plan and had thought things through
Important angle on this story. It appears the Navy Yard shooter took the AR from a security guard. Shall we ban ARs for Federal guards, Senator Feinstein?
Note: if you use Firefox or Chrome you can fix that.
For Firefox, install the "Rehost Image" extension.
For Chrome, install the imgur Extension by Metronomik extension.
Either will allow you to rehost almost any image to an anonymous image hosting site (which, in turn, will eliminate problems like you describe).
The terrorist (and his handler) are, like Hasan,
protected by Holder and Obama.
Meanwhile, the US Congress will remain drunk, whoring,
useless, treasonous, and banking their payoffs from al Qaeda.
like the underwear bomber who got on a flight to the US without a passport
If a person has his crazed mind set on killing people a gun law will not stop him.
I can think of a lot of easy ways to kill people without guns, and the internet is filled with the descriptive means to do it.
