It has been called the most popular rifle in America, and it's back in the spotlight after Monday's shooting at the Navy Yard: The AR-15.
Authorities said when Aaron Alexis unleashed a barrage of bullets Monday, he was carrying a rifle and a handgun. But he did most of the shooting with the weapon used in so many other rampages that shocked the nation:
List of 4 other shootings.

With Monday's incident, the gun will likely be in the crosshairs again. And again, it's likely nothing will change.

The government calls them "Personal Defense Weapons" [That's what the government called out in its Fed Biz Ops ad when the DHS wanted to order a few thousand AR M-4s for their jackboots.....]
It was probably an M-4 AR-type Carbine he hooked off the dead guard....yep, much different with auto...
From Fox News:
“Two federal officials told the Associated Press that Alexis had an AR-15 assault rifle, a shotgun and a handgun that he took from a police officer at the scene.”
The 12ga MKA is on an AR platform:

This needs to be answered. The AR15 has a bad enough reputation, we don’t need this adding to it and providing further justification to the leftists to ban it. The media will certainly attempt to confuse the facts just like they said Holmes was wearing a bullet proof vest when he was actually wearing a nylon tactical vest incapable stopping a pellet gun.
was it even an AR15? LEOs are authorized carry M16s especially when guarding sensitive areas.
Agreed; 2 or 3 CCW/CHL holders would have ended that incident much sooner. 10 or 15 would have ended it very quickly.
Any time the media sees a vest equipment carrier, a ‘plate’ carrier or nearly any type of vest, they call it a bullet proof vest. It is next to impossible to overcome their deliberate, intentional mischaracterizations. They aren’t interested in the truth, they are interested in images, icons and feigned remorse/outrage at the violence.
It is their nature because they are ghouls.
They want to turn every facility in America into a gun free, ‘killing zone’.
Far be it for CNN to actually delve into the facts....
I guess someone must do it for them.
I still can’t find any 2 news stories which agree on what happened. Most don’t/won’t even say.
The articles that even mention it all cal it an AR-15. I thought the Military all carried M-16s. Big difference.
Sweet cherry pie!
If I were there it would have ended very quickly.
I would have pulled my one of girlfriends, a Kimber Tac II or Kimber Eclipse Target II(twins) and emptied it into him, reloaded , walked over to hs body and he likely would flinch forcing me to empty the New mag in his head.
Liberal anti woman logic. Because a black guy does the shooting we ban weapons for women...
Ear witnesses reported hearing sets of 3 shots in a row “pow, pow, pow”, that sounds like a three round burst fired from an M16A2. Bottom line is the guy liberated the weapon from security guard or a cop using a shotgun. Are they gonna ban shotguns now? or just ban M16s in the hands of cops, security agents, and soldiers?
Of the 4 writers listed, usually Jim Miklaszewski and Pete Williams are the most ‘accurate’, for that lib-rag network.
Nice piece. I’d probably drop it down to regular 2 3/4” .00 buckshot shells, instead of HD 3” loads.
It’s my birthday today. If you lived near me I’d have drinks and a cigar with you.
Then we chase chicks.
Or you could sit back and admire my work, since you are in a committed relationship.
I also carry either a full-size Kimber 1911 Eclipse Target II or a Kimber 1911 Stainless Custom TLE II, Wilson Combat mags, 230gr HPs, with 2 dbl extra mag holsters.
That’s what I first thought when I heard the initial reports in the morning. If they could get their perverted way, they’d ban all guns. Except for their bodyguards and friends.
