Vice Adm. Bill French, the head of all Navy installations, said as of 8:30 p.m. that roughly 2,000 civilians remained at Navy Yard and that it could take until 11 p.m. or later to finish processing them off the base.
In addition, French said that the number of wounded stands at 14. All are civilians, he said.
Removal of the employees was painfully slow, because the FBI is still interviewing every person leaving the base out of concern that a second suspect may still be at large.
And SWAT teams are still finding people hiding in places on the base, where they have remain hunkered down since the initial attack early this morning. One city officials said that shortly before 7 p.m., officers found an employee hiding in a locker, where the employee had been for nearly 11 hours.

Undersecretary for the Navy, Juan Garcia, said the Navy Yard would reopen tomorrow for essential personnel only. Most employees would be encouraged to telecommute. Garcia said it was unclear who the base would reopen in its entirety.
Garcia said the Navy has set up a counseling line for anyone struggling to cope with Monday’s attack. That number is 1-800-222-0364.

Al-Qaida’s leader on Friday marked the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks by calling on Muslims to strike inside the United States, with big attacks or small, using any opportunity they can to “bleed” America financially.
In an audio message released two days after the 12th anniversary of the attacks, Ayman al-Zawahri said America is not a “mythic power” and that the mujahedeen - Islamic holy warriors - can defeat it with attacks “on its own soil.”
Al-Zawahri, the successor to Osama bin Laden, used the anniversary to argue that the United States can be defeated by targeting its economy. At the same time, he also addressed the ongoing upheaval in the Arab world. Pointing to a power struggle going on within the rebellion against Syria’s regime, he warned jihadi fighters in that country’s civil war not “compromise” with more secular or moderate rebel factions, who he said would eventually turn against the al-Qaida-linked radicals.
Al-Zawahri, who is believed to be hiding in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border regions, said al-Qaida sympathizers should stage small attacks or a “big strike” against the United States, similar to the Sept. 11 attacks in New York and Washington, leaving America in “a state of tension” about when and where the next hit would come.

On Syria’s civil war, al-Zawahri addressed al-Qaida-linked jihadis - including many foreign fighters - who have taken an increasingly prominent role in the fight against President Bashar Assad’s regime.
“I warn my brothers in Syria against any compromise with those factions. They have to learn the lesson of Egypt,” al-Zawahri said. He was referring to the army-backed overthrow of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood.

There must have been something on security cameras that is causing them to continue looking for a second potential shooter.
Not being lazy, just busy here at work. But I must ask what the update is about this murderer having a concealed carry permit. True? Made up? No idea.

At this point they’re milking it...Of course with all the hysterics about multiple shooters, how could thousands looking not yet find these other bad guys?
Can anyone imagine all those hundreds of witnesses and they still don’t know if more than one was the shooter was shooting?
Not to mention, I’d bet there are 500 cameras covering every angle at this facility....Including at the entries and exists. Anyone look at um?
