Last month there was a court martial scheduled to take place at an Air Force Base near me that I wanted to attend. No particular reason...just curiosity and plenty of free time.Long story short, after two weeks of phone calls to various enlisted men, officers and civilians assigned to the base nobody would give me permission to enter the base despite my offer to provide to them,in advance, any ID they wanted (including a US passport and my Army service #).

When I was at West Point some cadets were able to capture the Navy goat, which was returned to the Navy at the Army-Navy game.

When I was at West Point we had M-14s in our rooms, the ones with the selector switch intact.
And it would have been easy to sneak in ammo.

What happened to The United States Marine Corpse??????????
To: henkster
The Navy was started by the Continental Army.
The Marine Corps didn’t get its own regulations until 1834, prior to that using Army Regulations ashore and Navy regulations afloat. The Marines celebrated their 1834 birthday until after WWI, they back dated their birthday from 1834 to 1775.

We’ve been at war for over 10 years, but the military is horrified at the prospect of allowing its own people to be armed on base.
Right after 9-11, I thought the military should have issued sidearms to every officer and senior enlisted and ordered them to carry them at all times, or at least when in uniform.
How much safer every installation would be, if that were done.

After coming home from Vietnam, I was on TDY at West Point the summer of 1972 and we taught Weapons to the Cadets. We conducted live fire demonstrations with different weapons from the West Point Museum. I fired an old Flint Lock.

Fresh is correct, it also comes under the decision to reduce direct military strength/costs by having any mission that can be done by a civilian contractor be contracted out and keep the military focused on their combat mission, not guarding gates, washing dishes and peeling potatoes in the mess hall (whoops ‘dining facility’)
That goes back to the decision for an all volunteer military after the end of the draft in 1973.

The federal courthouse in CT uses armed guards from a private contractor. I haven't been inside the courthouse in ten years but I think they still use the same company.

We got the goat once. And I forgot to mention, the First Captain got lured off post and kidnapped/taken to Annapolis the next year.
Things got out of hand when the Midshipmen stole the goat...they broke an MP’s arm. So much for security at West Point.

Pretty sad when you hear Navy Staffers discuss their responses to the gunfire as "hiding and texting on cell phones to each other".
As I understand it, the military people on staff there are prohibited from carrying sidearms or weapons..........On a military base?
We're weak and defeated by socialist utopian ideas in a world who's participants prey on the people we've been shaped to be.

It may also not suprise you to learn Hollyweird celebutards are already jumping the shark (literally and figuratively) to use this tragedy to rant on about gun control.
I’m talking about Henry Winkler.

Maybe Im just a troglodyte, but I observe that nearly all the Police Chiefs, spokespersons, experts and folk being quoted on this situation are either women, members of a victim class, or Congress (non-voting) critter Eleanor Holmes Norton. If I want information on security, why would I look to these people?
