To: concerned about politics
Only the entry guards were armed.

Do you know this for a fact? I'm not trying to pick a fight, just learn something. A lot of military bases turned gate security over to civilian security guards and most of them are unarmed, that's why I'm asking.

I suspect this is correct. Whenever I have visited my son’s AF base, or my daughter’s Marine base, I have always been astonished that the only armed people (civilian OR military) have been the guards at the gate. The military folks that Maj Hasan shot down were like fish in a barrel.

Yeah. They were talking about it on FOX. No guns are allowed beyond the gate. According to some military guy( didn't recognize him) only the guards were allowed weapons. I remember wondering if the shooter(s) was(were) secutiry, otherwisde how'd they get the gun(s) inside?

I find that amazing. In TX, even retail store security guards are armed.
