Do you know this for a fact? I'm not trying to pick a fight, just learn something.

Yeah. They were talking about it on FOX. No guns are allowed beyond the gate. According to some military guy( didn't recognize him) only the guards were allowed weapons. I remember wondering if the shooter(s) was(were) secutiry, otherwisde how'd they get the gun(s) inside?

Gate security is done by civilian guards, not military (contract employees). Entry is via 2 gates, one for those with proper ID only and another for those with ID and / or visitors. Visitors have to report to the visitor center for a pass.

Bringing weapons on base is forbidden, cars can be searched without cause.

And there is an NCIS facility there, I am sure they are armed, but they have nothing to do with site security (as far as I know, disclaimer).
