FReeper "blackie" (the name he used here on earth)
is a US Navy vet.

Rest in Peace, Blackie.

Good morning, Mesta...I was getting the Canteen Sunday Chapel thread ready for posting when my email notification popped up down in the corner of my monitor. I saw the first words of the subject: My Dad, blackie......

I knew what the rest must be....I knew he and his wife have been quite ill for quite some time, but I wasn't ready to hear that he had passed. I am so thankful that his son thought to use blackie's email list to let folks know.

I’m still here and trying so hard to understand. I see so much evil everywhere, yet FR has suffered the loss of so many wonderful, kind, and gentle people this year it seems everything has gone out of balance.
blackie was such a kind soul. As always, “Lord, not as I will but as You will.” And THAT is the bottom line.

“blackie” and I met here on FR and come to find out, when I was born in 1947, blackie was 17 years old and in the Navy. We had some great conversations with me in Texas, him out on the Left Coast and around the first Thanksgiving after our getting together, he asked what I was going to do for the holiday?

Family and friends circumstance that year had me being alone, so I told blackie I would probably fix myself turkey and dressing for one. He said, “Heck, why don’t you come out here (about 2,000 miles) and spend Thanksgiving with me and Barb?”

That is when I knew I had made a friend. And today, I know I have lost a very good one.

Go with God, old pard. We’ll all miss you and before too long, I will be seeing you down the trail—

So sorry to hear this sad news. He was such a nice person and will be greatly missed. May Blackie rest in peace in God’s loving embrace. Prayers for his family and friend’s during this time of sorrow and loss.
