Dear FRiends,
This day is Erev Yom Kippur, (Yom Kippur Eve,) usually commemorated with two festive meals, the giving of charity, and asking others for forgiveness. This is to ask YOUR forgiveness for not explaining why all of my pings have stopped without anyone knowing why.
I wouldn't exactly call this a 'vanity', more like an explanation and apology to all of you who have added your names to any of my lists for why you don't get those oh, so many pings anymore.
Below is what this post started as. And THIS is how it ended. I figured it was better to show you *what only ywp pr three [ep[;e a;ready know than tp have you thonl I just qioy/>[?

To All the Great Freepers on any of my ping lists:
Part of this post is completely unedited and purposefully so. It's to show you as best I can why I don't post very much anymore.
I have lost lost control of my motor skills and my eyesight is following very closely. Both are failing and trying to post even one line takes anywhere from 20 minutes to half an hour and still has typos even though I think it looks all right. It is frustrating and embarrassing, but I don't want anyone to think I am ignoring or disinterested because nothing could be further from the truth.
The illness combined with a massive quantity of drugs has made my dyslexia nearly impossible to cope with. Sometimes I will type the same wrong letter three or four times before I get it right and I often end up in tears.
So you see. I do SO apologize if I have let you down or given the impression that I just stopped caring. I will never stop caring.
Thank you, and please don't stop pinging me to articles of interest. I read them all at 150 magnification.
I started this post at 2:00 AM on the dot. It is now 3:20 and I edited it but I have to add something. (Editing as I go now.)
When this first started, and the posts were really screwed up even after I had edited them, I would ask the mods, who I am so grateful to, to pull them and sometimes they were gone before I even got back to the page. Thank you, Mods. I realized I couldn't keep doing that for long. The Mods aren't babysitters and they have more important things to do than stop me from embarrassing myself.
The final kicker though, was a Freepmail I sent to Brad's Gramma. She sent it back to me and said it was the first good laugh she had had all day. When I saw what I had sent, I was beside myself. She understood it, but I don't know how. And that was the end mostly.
I have several rather large ping lists and would be extremely grateful if someone could take one or two and get the word out. Please Freepmail me if you would. I will give the links and graphics and explain how to keep the indexes right with the links. Anything I can do to help, I will...gladly.
Tomorrow is Yom Kippur and I will be offline all day from sundown today. May G-d hear my prayers.
You guys have all been terrific and I am so sorry.
Finished at 4:55 AM. Holding to post until afternoon.
Lol. You sure have, Mesta.
MHG, as G-d is mywitness, this isexactly what jappened. I THOUGHT mayBe THINGS WERE GETTING BETTER, bUT WAS AFRAID i MIGHT BE FAKING MYSELF OUT. lIKE WHEM YOU HAVE A TOOTHACHE AND ON YOUR WAY TO THE DENTISY, IT’S GONE, EXCEPT IT ISN’T?
Caps. Can’t live with them and can’t live wothout’em.
Well, sinful people do say no in various degrees to God, and they miss out on a lot because they do. The New Testament is more explicit than the Old about God being love, however that is a reasonable deduction from the way the Old Testament God self-describes His attitudes and His requirements of mankind. One would hardly expect an indifferent God to ask humanity to love Him to the hilt... that doesn’t class God as any better than idols are. Some theologies might as well be paraphrased as “God is hate” or “God is indifference.” Some are even well intended readings of the bible, but are spiritually unbalanced.
I have some Hatch diced tomatoes with red chiles. Have never seen the green ones around here.
Gezuntheit!
Glad you’re feeling better, and may God continue to be with you.
We started getting Hatch peppers here in podunkville last year. They’re really flavorful without the heat. Great for stuffing since they’re large. Keep checking your stores for them.
Maybe it was Uncle Walt keeping an eye on his niece. There’s a reason for him letting you in on the magic when you were little. Herbs have kept man alive and well for much longer than modern medicine. A balance of the two is the way to go, imo. Onions and garlic also have antibiotic properties.
Hugs.
Pepper and prayers. God is wonderful and mighty in the most mysterious ways! How blessed you are that God has you in his healing arms, Mesta! Thank you for the wonderful story and the scoop on pepper.
m’Lady, Time is a volume. God knows the end from the beginning, if He chooses to take a look. One of the miracles which we humans fail to recognize is His planting the seed of a later-in-life miracle. Your uncle’s magic ingredient lesson for you may well be one of those miracles. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Prayers for your well being.
I always have a fried egg, sunny side up, and a strip of bacon, for breakfast. And a good part of the pleasure is to shake on some salt, and to use the beautiful pepper grinder one of my daughters gave to me for Christmas maybe ten years ago to give it a good sprinkling of pepper.
Fried eggs and bacon, with salt and pepper. And the pepper sure is better if you grind it on the spot. You can smell that wonderful smell of fresh pepper as you do it. Been part of my breakfast since I was six years old. Or, no, since I was four.
Praise be to God! He works.
This is divine intervention. As I read it a remembered a similar dish and my Great-grandfather and mother re: pepper.
Starting right now.
I’m going through a lot of issues as well.
Thanks MM
I love you.
I will send some more songs via email, hopefully today.
In Ayurveda, black pepper is used to promote digestion, assimilation, metabolism, drying up of excess secretions or fluids anywhere in the body, promotes lung function, and gives “up” energy in general. Probably more but that’s what I can remember.
AND makes things taste yummy. I am saving the good pepper things from your link.
May the Lord of all hold you tightly in His arms.
I love you too and thank you.
Don’t you wish you knew what they knew when you were little? So much wisdom and gone like a breeze in the night.
From The Ayurvedic Encyclopia:
Black Pepper
Sanskrit: Maricha (means “sun” due to it having a concentration of solar energy)
Tissues affected:
Plasma, blood, fat, marrow, nerve
Systems affected:
Circulative, digestive, respiratory
Actions:
Stimulant, expectorant, carminative, anti-pyretic, anthelmintic, antideriodic (other ones when used externally)
Uses:
Asthma, chronic indigestion, colon toxins, obesity, sinus congestion, fever, intermittent fever, cold extremities, colic, cholera, gastric ailments, gas, diarrehea, hemmhoroids, sore throat.
Other books, excerpts:
Planetary Herbology:
Used for food congestion, weak digestion, coldness, poor circulation, to dry mucus. Is of singular importance as a metabolic stimulant. Black pepper has the ability to recirculate vital nutrients. May help with kidney function.
Yoga of Herbs:
One of the most powerful digestive stimulants. Burns up ama (toxins created primarily by undigested/poorly digested food), cleanses the alimentary canal, energizes the fire of digestion to destroy toxins and digest food, can help relieve congestion, headaches and even epileptic seizures (taken a specific way). Caution - may not be good in inflammatory conditions of digestive organs - (In your case, Mesta - if you are reading this - take with milk products as much as possible.)
The Ayurvedic Way of Herbs:
In Asia, black pepper is the foremost detoxifier and anti-aging herb. It is a warming, carminative digestive remedy that increases circulation, lowers blood pressure [My note: not necessarily if you don’t have high BP] and contains compounds that prevent osteoporosis.
Seems to release carcinogens through the liver, reducing cancer, protects against liver damage, increases bioavailability nad absorption of nutrients. Reduces free radicals, is anti-oxidant, burns up ama (toxins), relieves sinus congestion. Warming nature, helps glaucoma. DRying, can be used to treat edema, even in large quantities.
[If anyone wants definitions of any terms, ask and I’ll give ‘em.]
I wish I had known this years ago. What do you know about turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, cinnamon and ginger?
I can look up in a bit. I could say some things from memory but they won’t be very complete. And don’t forget coriander, both seeds and fresh leaves! Fresh leaves are one of nature’s best coolers and detoxifiers, you can even chew up fresh coriander and place on burns, insect stings and bites and so on. Or mortar and pestle them if you have it handy. Turmeric is very anti-ifective - anti-microbial, both internally and externally. In India, bandaids are made with turmeric in the white part that goes on the cut. I put pinches on almost all wounds, helps them heal up. Is related to ginger and goldenseal and turmeric, all cousins basically.
Turmeric is said to help IBS and other like conditions; helps digest proteins, helps keep the “good guys” growing in the innards and keeps the bad guys down.
I’ll tell you more later and look in my books - have to deal with the cats - I take them for a little walk before putting in their cat barn (two are blind).
Be back later.
I can tell you as much as you want about herbs, to the limit of my knowledge and books that are handy. I’ve cured myself of bad thyroid and crippling RA, and working on the asthma (much better as long as I’m not around triggers too much). Oh, I healed a tooth root abcess, took months, but it seems to be over. It was that way or pliars....
I am so happy you are feeling some improvement. You heard His message in your heart - and that’s wonderful in itself - He told you what to do! (or eat, rather...)
Here’s something you can do with equal amounts of cumin, fennel (another goody for the GI tract), and coriander seeds, using whole seeds, 1 teaspoon (1/3 t each) simmer in water for 10 or 15 minutes (the amount of water should be a good sized mug or coffee cup) and drink after meals. Helps promote digestion, ease any gas, help with assimilation and so on. Doesn’t taste bad at all, could add a bit of honey/raw suger.
The seeds are better than ground because ground goes stale very fast, has to be kept in glass jars in a dark coolish place. Just not in sun, or right over the stove, or on counter top.
You could in a pinch take the same spices (or herbs or whatever you want to call them!) use ground ones, just smaller amt since ground takes up less space, and just pour boiling water over them and let sit until warm.
Ginger tea made from chopped fresh ginger - simmered, wtih lid on, for say 1/2 an hour (time depends on amount of water and ginger), and then drink - can be drunk with some milk and honey. Best drink in the world. Good for fevers, headaches, digestion, any kind of infective illness. Can add a few peppercorns and/or other spices.
Sometimes in winter (well, pretty often actually) I make what I call “Yogi tea” or Chai tea (chai just means “tea” really) with ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, cloves and a bit of fennel. I use whole seeds, chopped ginger root and simmer for about 1/2 hour or even 45 minutes, but I usually make almost a gallon at a time. Proportions in order I typed ‘em, personal preference varies. I like a LOT of ginger in it. Very warming to the GI tract, helps digestion of course, helps lungs, circulation, said to help prevent infective illness like flus, makes you feel a lot better if sick or coming down with something. Each spice in there does something. After I strain out, being the penny pincher that I am, I put the spices in a bowl in the fridge and re-simmer later, just using less water. Traditionally you simmer with milk after you take the spices out, and add sweetner. Very delicious. Don’t over do cloves, BTDT and they are VERY strong...
Fenugreek has affinity for liver. In India people sprout fenugreek or plant it and eat the leaves as greens. Very bitter, an acquired taste but very good for the liver, I’ll have to look up for more info. Usually when cooking with them one gently toasts them in oil or ghee until golden brown - not dark brown - and then adds the food to be cooked, or Heated. Toasting them like that mellows the flavor, much Indian cooking does that with spices.
I will be back...
Amen Mesta! Pepper ... warmth from our Lord!
Dittos Mesta! More prayers from this keyboard, heart and soul to our Lord for your health and well being!
