The brain-eating amoeba Naegleria fowleri has officially been found in the St. Bernard Parish, La. water supply following last week's death of 4-year-old who got the lethal infection when playing on a slip 'n slide.
"The water is safe to drink and there are basic precautions that families can take -- such as chlorinating their pools and avoiding getting water in their noses -- to protect themselves, though infection from this amoeba is very rare," Louisiana state health officer Jimmy Guidry said in a press release.
St. Bernard Parish is five miles from New Orleans.

The state is supposed to be taking action.
Uh huh...sure. I will believe them when they snort the water on camera. Let em put their brains where their mouths are. And whaddaya know...the news just announced records found that show chlorine has been UNDER used for years! Low to NO chlorine in water!Wonder where the saved money went? I call it intentional murder.
no I’m not a media puppet and I live on the Gul;f Coast too.
I helped with the oil clean up on the beaches...did you?
No, probably not.
Yes, to a degree it WAS a disaster. Not just on tourism, but the local economy, so don’t tell me what I KNOW tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy spewer.
I agree. The parish government, and the politicians who approved the shortchanging of water treatment should be sued/incarcerated.
This situation is due to many things-first, the overall deterioration of S.E. LA due to neglect, corruption and nature. Second- stupidity. I constantly ask those who went back to St.Bernard HOW they could live there again. Some are in trailers because the insurance $ they got for their homes didn’t begin to cover the cost of rebuilding. Their neighbors are gone, the levees CANNOT protect them from storms, even strong easterly winds flood some parts of the parish again and again. St. Bernard and Placquemine Parish is, basically, a sponge floating on the Gulf of Mexico. So is all of SE LA.
I am trying like mad to get the hell out of here for good. My ancestors were nuts to leave France and start New Orleans! It is the sphincter of the country and belongs to the alligators, bugs and toxic waste. I will NOT miss it.
If THIS doesn’t drive people out of that toxic area its hard to have sympathy. If there were no constituents these politicians would have NO JOBS. No tax base=nothing to steal. It’s not defensible, its not fixable and its no way for civilized people to live.
I was here in the New Orleans area . the media was making it seem like oil was lapping at all our shores. that was pure media lies . there was no oil in the water here. the media did scare away tourists for a long time and from Florida beaches too. many peoples eyes here in New orleans were opened to what the media was cause they saw the media blatantly lying. tourists were scared to eat the seafood here for years after the massive media lies. the food was safe , the beaches were safe , there was nothing here to fear but the media scared away tourists to advance their socialist/liberal anti oil agenda
This article shows the media lied and this was no disaster:

you say you agree that the media has lied about global warming for 30 years but still believe the media . the media is the main problem and they are growing government and destroying our freedom and you help them by believing their lies and taking them seriously so you are a media puppet. you like liberals are willing to be the media and gov slaves
nothing you can say will change my mind or affect anything i think
