We’re supposed to be teaching these kids English and good writing skills, and we have a sentence that doesn’t even use the right tense of the verb (”slapping” instead of “slapped”.

I read a bit more from the photo of the book, and the author switches tenses. This author doesn’t even speak correct English.

What horrible, turgid drek. And to think only 45 years ago I was reading David Copperfield, The Idiot, Crime and Punishment, Les Miserables, Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes, and Huckleberry Finn in 8th through 10th grades. How far we’ve fallen.
