MOSCOW — RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.
Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.
The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.
No one wants the United Nations to suffer the fate of the League of Nations, which collapsed because it lacked real leverage. This is possible if influential countries bypass the United Nations and take military action without Security Council authorization.

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

On MSNBC’s Last Word the libs were going “Uh oh! Putin is using all of our left-wing anti-US “Empire” rhetoric that we deployed against Bush!
Some of what Putin says makes sense, some of it is total balderdash. But the “big picture” takeaway is that Putin here is slapping the snot out of Obama. Making a total mockery of the Kenyan.
To that, all I can say to Putin is... “Yes! Do it Again! And Again!” Slap him like the degenerate POS he is! It’s a joy to behold. Certainly something that we haven’t seen from the pathetic, cowering GOP over these past five years. Slap the bastard silly! Show the world what an empty-suited fool Obama is. Good for Putin.
If America’s stature in the world is knocked to the ground, so be it. The American people elected Obama, and will have to suffer the consequences and the degradation.
Mr. Putin, only arrogant Europeans, Russians and uneducated rabid liberals think Americans believe themselves to be exceptional, i.e. better than everybody else. America is exceptional because she recognizes that each individual is blessed with inalienable rights bestowed upon him/her from a higher power, NOT a centralized government and its statist bureaucracy.
The only thing that makes America exceptional is the Bill of Rights. Nothing more. We should spread the BOR to every corner of the globe.
Thanks for your comment regarding Putin’s admiration of Solzhenitsyn. I read just about everything written by S back in the 70s and 80s, but was unaware of this fact.
Googling about, I learned that Putin considers The Gulag Archipelago essential reading for Russian students, and that S had qualified praise for Putin just before he died.
Putin may be a democratically elected tyrant much like Obama, but, unlike Obama, anybody who suggested that the next generation should read The Gulag Archipelago is not a communist.
wesley Clark betrayed the Clintons when he turned on them to support Obama—hoping for a cabinate post—he got none. He could have been Hillary’s VP! He bit the hand that fed him.
Just like I said...Putin works, plays and belittles Obama, every day. It’s called PUPPET-ON-A-STRING!!! Drip....Drip.....Drip!! America....wake up....time to impeach Obama is here, or, force him to resign!!! The entire world is laughing and mocking the USA, big time!!! Just like them proud patriots in Colorado threw two Democrat low life Senators out of office.....the same movement needs to broom Obama, politically and send him and his “hate Amnerica “ wife back to the Chicago crime cesspool where they rightfully belong!!!
Amazing that Putin, not Obama, is the one who invoke's the Lord’s blessings.
