A Plea for Caution From Russia (Putin Lectures Obama on 9/11 Anniversary)
The New York Times ^ | Wednesday, September 11, 2013 | Vladimir V. Putin

MOSCOW — RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.

The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.

No one wants the United Nations to suffer the fate of the League of Nations, which collapsed because it lacked real leverage. This is possible if influential countries bypass the United Nations and take military action without Security Council authorization.

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Obama uses the language of American uniqueness to lure the unsuspecting, like a few congressmen I heard on the radio ntoday.

I hate to say it but he makes some sense.

I think its because he realizes what a dangerous situation Obama has created in the world.

It goes all the way back to our involvement in Bosnia and Kosovo.

Uh, someone does. I want the United Nations gone, gone, GONE!

Strange that he reached out like this but I don’t like his letter one bit. GTH Putin. I agree with Putin on a couple of things but other than that—he can just gth.

When crazy progressive Weasley Clark nearly led us into an armed conflict with the Russians. Thank God British General Mike Jackson simply refused a NATO order.

When you read this and you think of Putin vs Obama, the word pummel comes to mind.

One of our two leaders is a statesman. I may not like it, but he holds himself in a dignified manner.

Our guy is stinking up the place. It’s just embarrassing.

More than that, he realizes just what a danger to World Peace the Peace Prize-winning Narccissitic Sociopath has become.

Interesting story about that posted here just the other day.

Should Obama and Putin become soul mates and pals is not all that comforting. The world beware of exactly where their differences are, and where there are actually none.

Not a bad piece, though Putin is wrong about Iraq and Afghanistan. They are a mess now because of Obama the Clown.

Also, did he take a shot at Obama or America when he said this:

And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Far be it from me to think that Obama considers America "great"...on the contrary, I believe Obama hates the Constitution, Christianity and capitalism.

What makes America great are those three things, not in that order.

Putin is wrong to think America is not exceptional...we are. Obama is wrong because he says we are exceptional, because he says this only to stroke his ego.

“Putin is a communist, to hell with him.”
“I disagree, he is also a number of other things....”

Whatever you may think of Putin, Russia IS holding the moral high ground here, undeniably, and to be holding it, against the Peace Prize-winning President of the USA shows that we truly have jumped down the Rabbit Hole.

Ya just can’t see James (Squeaky) Blunt as a soldier but he’s the real deal.

I only know of him from seeing him on Top Gear and talking about being a tank commander or something.
