Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer won the Democratic primary for comptroller Tuesday night, ending disgraced ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzerâs surprise bid to reclaim his political career.
Stringer had argued that voters should spurn a politician who resigned amid a prostitution scandal. He offered himself as a veteran, untarnished public servant who knows how to work with others to make government work.
In a non-bizarro world, these two court jesters would exit the stage and honor the rest of the world with their absence.
But we don’t live a non-bizarro world....
Lets just say that Michael Bloomberg had a pretty bad night yesterday.
*********************************************************************************
He sure did.
Not only in New York, but he had his head handed to him by a plumber in Colorado.
I actually thought with the knuckle heads in NYC would actually elect these guys.
Bloomberg sure is an arrogant politician, speaking of arrogance. He somehow was able to get around the term limits in New York and was elected to a 3rd term as mayor four years ago. Sounds like he wouldn’t have been elected again had he been able to run again this time.
Even liberals were frustrated about his attempts to limit soda sizes. Some politicians just overreach, and Bloomberg did just that.
I didn’t think Carlos Danger ever was a serious contender for the Mayor’s office. He had a forum, a hidden agenda, and he was having a lot of fun.
In the olden days, when you shamed yourself and embarrased your entire family, you slunk off into the shadows and avoided polite company
There really isn’t ANY good news in NYC.
If the Democrats win ( and it looks like they will ), we’re going back to the pre-Giulliani days of high crime, high taxes, slow job growth, untamed unions and of course, high deficits and eventually bankruptcy.
Bill de Blasio ( the Dem primary winner for Mayor ) and Scott Stringer ( the dem primary winner for Comptroller ) are both RE-DISTRIBUTIONISTS, whose main philosophy of governing is taking from the “rich” and increasing government programs.
Two more delusional narcissists who have no shame. They are harmless compared to the one in the White House.
Can Weiner rise again?
In the old days you were responsible for your own character. Of late, a higher caste has emerged from the background with the power and influence to call the shot if the voters are not careful or aware. The ties to the Clintons are so prevelant they cannot be ignored. If they can get Weiner in power positions they can carry it on. Wiener is doing his part.
RE: Can Weiner rise again?
It’s HARD :)
Weiner, after losing last nite, flipped off a reporter from his car as he took off. Don’t worry, the class act will be back in a year or two. (And will probably win)
Back to prime time TV shows for both of them. Lecture circuit will welcome these boys as well. No foo stams for ‘em!
I read this morning that Weiner’s texting partner, Sydney Leathers, tried to get into the party at his campaign headquarters. She was described as “poured into a skin-tight red dress.” What an appropriate ending to Carlos Danger’s campaign.
It's nice that he lost, but the scary part is that 48% of voters still voted for him.
