House Republican leaders said Tuesday they will try to force the Democratic-led Senate to vote on defunding President Barack Obama's health-care law before the House will agree to enact a stopgap government-funding measure.
"Our goal here is not to shut down the government," House Speaker John Boehner told reporters in Washington. "Our goal is to cut spending and to stop Obamacare."

everal Republicans expressed opposition because they said they see the strategy as non-binding.
"Every member of the conference said they're going to do everything they can to defund Obamacare, and our leadership said in there they know this strategy will not defund Obamacare," Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., said in an interview.
Michigan Republican Justin Amash said in a message posted on Twitter : "I do not support the #hocuspocus plan that doesn't really defund #Obamacare."

Boehnercare coming soon!
Ahhhh... See what bonehead is doing. They will cut a couple of more dollars, leave Obamacare in place and try to hold the House and take the Senate in 2014.
Of course by then it will be too late.
Either 1) Bonehead won’t pull it off, or 2) he’ll pull off something that’s worth nothing.
Just as he is worth nothing.
Several Republicans expressed opposition because they said they see the strategy as non-binding.
*******
This is nothing more than a procedural gimmick to lend the appearance of de-funding Obamacare cooked up by Republican “leadership”.
Call Boehner and Cantor and let them know they are not fooling anyone with this ruse.
Is Bohner proposing something here?
Breaking: Republican Leaders Planning To Propose A "Hocus Pocus Plan For Defunding ObamaCare"
The deceptions never seem to end. Instead of defunding ObamaCare, Republican leaders are still working behind-the-scenes in an attempt to both fool the American people into believing that they oppose ObamaCare while they do everything in their power to ensure that ObamaCare becomes a permanent fixture on the American landscape.
Case in point... National Review is reporting that House Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor is now pushing a scheme that conservative critics are calling a "hocus pocus plan for defunding ObamaCare." And there is no better time than the present to call our elected officials on the carpet for their trickery.
Here's how the National Review report reads: "Under the Cantor plan, the House would vote on two measures, the CR and a resolution that amends the CR to defund ObamaCare. Both measures would be brought under a rule that allows the Senate to send just the clean CR to the president, but only after they first vote on whether to defund ObamaCare. If the Senate voted against defunding ObamaCare, they could then pass the clean CR."
In plain English, House Republican Leaders are proposing to push the Senate to take a token vote on defunding ObamaCare (which is doomed to fail), and then allow the Senate to immediately take another vote to fund ObamaCare. In doing so, they would ensure that ObamaCare is funded while maintaining the illusion to an unsuspecting public that Republicans don't want ObamaCare funded.
We're not fooled by this "hocus pocus" scheme and we need to make sure our so-called Republican leaders know that you are not fooled. Within the next 20 days, as its implementation progresses, ObamaCare may be so entrenched that it could become nearly impossible to defund and repeal. Thats why we need to reinforce our message that the American people want it DEFUNDED NOW... PERIOD!
“Is Bohner proposing something here?”
No. Just more obfuscation. The gop “leadership” is putting up a strawman bill to defund boehnercare. It’s a separate bill that will be defeated in short order so funding can go on as planned with a second bill that follows along with it.
Basically it allows the gop wing of the uniparty to say they were against boehnercare before they were for it.
Wrong on defunding Obamacare
Wrong on making war in Syria
Wrong on amnesty
Wrong on everything that matters.
Yawn.
Let me know when the republicans start acting like a political party with actual political interests and positions.
A little game of three-card monte has just been laid out for us, come on, you were watching all the time, of course you know where the Queen of Hearts is in that shuffle. But watch how artfully the dealer picks up two cards with one hand and one card with the third hand. Lost in this quick shuffle, the mark has zero chance of selecting the “right” card, as there was no way of detecting whether the first card laid down was from the top or the bottom of that shuffle. This requires a great deal of practice with this particular sleight-of-hand by the dealer, and the compliance of two shills who are secretly working in cahoots with the dealer, unbeknownst to the mark at whom the play is directed.
Folks, you have been had.
“Let me know when the republicans start acting like a political party with actual political interests and positions.”
FRiend, that’s going to be a long, long, loooooong time.
But c’mon! I saw the Queen of Hearts! The gop wouldn’t cheat us good conservatives, would they?
Would they?
“Wrong on everything that matters.”
But doing a great job as a judas goat.
“Michigan Republican Justin Amash said in a message posted on Twitter : “I do not support the #hocuspocus plan that doesn’t really defund #Obamacare.””
Yep, more hocus-pocus, subterfuge from Boehner, Cantor, and Sessions—the Republican “leaders.”
Cuffing-A right they would. Why do you think the game was set up this way?
And Lucy isn’t going to pull the football away from Charley Brown again, either. She PROMISED!
Oops, she just couldn’t help herself.
BTW, Sessions is irate at Cruz for putting the heat on the House leadership. Redstate: "Multiple people confirm to me that just a few hours ago Pete Sessions blew up about Ted Cruz and made sure everyone in the room knew he held Cruz in absolute contempt."
You’re known by the enemies you keep.
By the way it is Congressman Pete Sessions, who is the traitor here, not Senator Jeff Sessions, in case anyone gets confused on who the enemy is.
I never understood what Cruz was up to . It was always certain to me that Bohner would in the end send a CR to Senate w Obama-care funding if not doing so would result in a shutdown that he would get blamed for.
So this little Bohner trick I think is : House GOP passes a defund CR to Senate and Bohners says “OK Ted, here is your defund bill. We did what you said. Now pass it in the Senate”
Of course Reid probably never takes it up, and Reid gets way more than the 51 he needs to pass the CR with Obama-care. Then at the last minute Bohner puts up same bill in house and passes it with Dems, no shutdown.
There is a word going around that Bohner will retire after this term, and if so after the next election we will see who steps up to run for Speaker,
“There is a word going around that Bohner will retire after this term, and if so after the next election we will see who steps up to run for Speaker.”
I think the weeper has a significant chance of being retired if he runs again. In the mean time, he has nothing to lose by stabbing us in the back.
He is the epitome of what the gop wing of the uniparty has come to represent: betrayal on top of cowardice on top of socialism. Frankly, I don’t much care who his successor will be. We can rest assured he or she will be another anti-conservative. I think eric the weasel is next up.
