Syria said on Tuesday it is ready to unveil and cease the production of chemical weapons, as Western powers prepared to discuss a Russian plan for the country to surrender its chemical arms.

“We are ready to state where the chemical weapons are, to halt production of chemical weapons and show these installations to representatives of Russia, other countries and the U.N.,” Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said in a statement sent to Russia's Interfax news agency.

Muallem made the announcement a day after he had welcomed in Moscow the Russian proposal for placing chemical weapons under international control.

It’s the Middle Eastern way, it it not? Agree and then redefine the terms after the fact...

the snafu here came because El Dope’s media office could not resist trying to make El Cid out of el crapo. There was a tacit agreement with all hands in sync until the PIOs began saying this idea had been El Dopes at the G-20 and loaded on that how forceful he looked in his endeavor to drive his points home. Unfortunately, they let that info out of the confines of the US and its legions of sycophants. Once Putin’s professional diplomats heard it and mentioned it made him look like a stooge, he decided to add a bit of heat to the situation so there would be no doubt it was not El Dope’s idea and El Dope decided to grasp defeat from a stalemate. Now the ball is back in El Dope’s court and he is up against the clock preparing for his 9PM address to the nation where he was expecting to ride in on his horse followed by a procession of the vanquished.

Exactly. Saddam had his chemical weapons under UN Supervision for years and then when he got tired of the UN he kicked them out.

Slap at Obama: “Russia, other countries, and the UN” - lumping us in with those other minor players. Whatever happened to, “They don’t have to love us, but if they don’t, they do have to fear us”?

I was talking to someone on another forum about Syria and this is what they said, and I’m looking to see if anyone here can tell me if this is likely or just ludicrous:

“Russia is setting the value of the oil, not Syria. Syria has the resources to be a moderately wealthy nation (their location makes it unlikely that they would be hugely rich) but they’ve been screwing it up for 100 years. Syria as a nation has a huge crude reserve. Syria as a population is very poor. Which probably has a lot to do with the whole revolution thing. It usually does”.

I enjoy your posts and accuracy, but do not overlook what just happened ....Russia, China, Syria, and the UN, just told Obuttnutts to shove it and told the Muslim Brotherhood to shove it....

...they just stopped Valerie and Buttnuts right in their tracks.

If Obuttnuts has one dither, his agenda is known BIG TIME

I’ve not heard of any petroleum deposits under Syria, but I’m certainly no expert.
