Twitter was on fire this afternoon with giddy members of the media and others eager to report that George Zimmerman had been arrested for threatening his wife with a gun. Behold the people so many Americans rely on for their facts.

And that unverified reporting spread like wildfire thanks in part to those responsible journalists:

But the story started to evolve:

Yes it is
Twitchy is a heck of a lot more reliable than ABCNNBCBS. The twits were giving Michelle grief for not running with the original "arrest" story.
Not Geddy.
I think this is her only hope of leading a normal life without worrying someone is going to kill her or someone in her family.
lol! Yep!
When my puppy is giddy he tinkles on the floor.
In other words.
The wife fabricated the entire incident and called the police.
She may be facing charges for filing a false police report.
.....Sheesh!
The Chris Matthews “tingle”.
Maybe the voting public should have been privy to what was in the Obamas’ own divorce papers (never finalized).
Looks like she changed her story and lied to 911.
Shellie Zimmerman, who has filed for divorce, initially told a 911 dispatcher that her husband had his hand on his gun as he sat in his car outside the home she was at with her father. She said she was scared because she wasnt sure what Zimmerman was capable of doing. But hours later she changed her story and said she never saw a firearm, said Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell.
For the time being, domestic violence cant be invoked because she has changed her story and says she didnt see a firearm, Bracknell said.
That’s what I’m hoping for. The sow in an orange jumpsuit. She can pretend she’s an astronaut.
Zimmerman’s post-shooting life would have been much easier if he used his mother’s Spanish maiden name. It would have been harder for the media to paint him as a white anti-black bigot if it had been perceived as yet another case of a black vs. Hispanic conflict.
