Syria welcomes Russia's proposal for Damascus to put its chemical weapons under international control: Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moualem by Margarita Noriega (Reuters) 10:41 AM

Reuters:
As the briefing ends, Carney references this NYT article by Charlie Savage outlining the position of the White House and its legal counsel on the legality of striking Syria:
... [T]he proposed strike is unlike anything that has come before an attack inside the territory of a sovereign country, without its consent, without a self-defense rationale and without the authorization of the United Nations Security Council or even the participation of a multilateral treaty alliance like NATO, and for the purpose of punishing an alleged war crime that has already occurred rather than preventing an imminent disaster.
[...]
Kathryn Ruemmler, the White House counsel, said the president believed a strike would be lawful, both in international law and domestic law, even if neither the Security Council nor Congress approved it. But the novel circumstances, she said, led Mr. Obama to seek Congressional concurrence to bolster its legitimacy.

Hillary up.
(....”What will be the rebel reaction?”....)
It’s what will Saudi’s reaction be.....and that via the jihadists element/rebels included....
They’ve said they’ll gas Israel....
The fact they keep throwing around the gas should tell people that Assad is not behind these gas attacks. Saudi provided gas to it’s thugs in Syria....and they are determined that Assad fall and their administration take over.
So it’s how the Saudi’s respond now if Obama accepts the offer for Assad to relinquish control of the Chemical Elements.
However...because the US is Saudi’s bulldog in this fight with Iran over Syria Obama may very well decline the offer and move forward....either way he’s not going to do anything apart from coming out of this as this hero. He sure isn’t going to give Putin the credit.
Ah ... looks like it was set up for Hillary.
Now Kerry wasn’t rhetorically speaking per Hillary.

RT @CNHorn: Hillary Clinton says she just met with President Obama. Calls Syria a "fluid situation."
Anybody who actually believes Assad will give up his chemical weapons must be a really foolish and naive person.
Alert! Breaking!:
Hillary saying it was ‘the Pressure of the US’ that caused those nations supporting Syria to come up with a political solution.
There again it was Obamas tough hand of diplomacy that brought this about.
She further said...The road map of June 2012 must be followed. The Pres. and Hillary discussed this today.
Clinton repeats the assertions of Carney and other officials earlier that the developments on the Russia proposal and other options in Syria have been dependent on the ongoing, credible threat of military action from the United States via the push for authorization in Congress.

HE will...but the rebels will not let this happen...the International Leaders would want safe passage for their people to come in...the rebels will not agree to this nor Saudi...who is arming them and providing the chemical weapons to them.
So the question now is how will the SAUDI’s respond to this....for this leaves Assad in power and they will continue the war without the chemical weapons.
So the deaths will continue...

Pleased that Hillary remarks are being shared. I can actually listen to Carney and even the POSer. But, Hillary’s voice makes my stomach churn and my hair hurt.
I prefer nails on a chalkboard to her screeching.
In reality Putin took the lead diplomatically from Obama who refused to negotiate with Syria...or Russia. Remember he refused to meet Obama in Russia...he refused to speak or dialogue with Assad......
Not disputing that diplomatic discussions may have been taking place [neither have I seen reports on such], BUT what just happened this morning, starting with Kerry’s off-the-cuff statement, was NOT planned. WH is scrambling, spinning, and buying time to figure what to do.
“The adm have very little choice but to tamp down ideas this was a mistake by John Kerry. They can’t be seen to be disowning their chief statesman on the international stage. An incredibly complex situation that the Russians have seized upon, which some might say with typical cynicism.”
Cat’s out of the bag, however, because govt “disowned” Kerry twice this morning: 1) the State Dept cleanup, and 2) unnamed adm official said Kerry’s remarks were a “major goof” and that he had “gone off script.”
WH is in chaos -— their 48-hr Syria campaign push has just turned into a whole other animal.
No he won’t. He will keep them and he will use them on his own people again because weak Obama will not do anything about it.
So they knew.....this is all theater. Even putting Hillary up there...which saves Kerry's face.
But again there are the Saudi’s to consider in this...the war between them and Iran over Syria will continue with or without Chemical weapons....and they have thousands of Jihadists they've armed..and that with chemical weaponry.
I agree the WH was caught off guard and is scrambling.
How else can it be explained that Hillary just flip flopped on Kerry’s remarks as being rhetorical?
He’ll try to take credit but it’s pretty obvious even to the brain dead liberals I talked to this morning that Putin cleaned up Obama’s mess.
That is the FOURTH Obama Adm flip-flop on Kerry’s remarks in as many hours!
Your forgetting that the rebels and jihadists are being supplied with chemical weapons by the Sauds.....
the reports specifically stated that the mixtures did not follow the footprint of what Assad holds in chemical weapons...it was a “dirty” mixture put together with “old” chemicals.
Assad isn’t using these.....all you have to do is listen to the rebels who just announced they will “gas” Israel if the US doesn’t strike.
