I am listening to Carney pressure delayed.

I wonder how many interviews Obama has already given to his 6 TV anchors, if any, BEFORE this news broke. Blitzer going over to WH this afternoon for his interview with Obama when the news broke about Assad’s willingness to turn over chem weapons. Blitzer is still on air.

Blitzer’s interview will air on CNN at 6pm.

Carney spinning Lurch’s declaration about a tiny little bitty war.

Spin ... spin ... spin ... take credit.

REUTERS:

Carney takes over for Blinken, says that “limited, effective” strikes will serve to deter Assad from future use of chemical weapons, and that the push for strikes even amidst the current debate has put pressure on the Assad regime, including the proposal out of Russia today that Assad surrender chemical weapons stockpiles.

Carney says the White House would welcome any way to reduce and destroy all of Assad’s chemical weapons stockpile, but expresses skepticism about the potential for Assad to fully cooperate with such a proposal. “There are ongoing conversations at the highest levels” about the proposal, Carney says, to evaluate the proposal and see how it might avert military action — though he attributes the credible threat of action to the formulation of the proposal in the first place.

Yep...I said he’d do that...I was posting several times yesterday that Putin had met with Syrian and Iranian officials and they had a diplomatic solution they’d present officially today.......and Obamas response would be that HE pushed them to this and without this push they would not have done so.

Obamas going to come out of this smelling like a rose.

Carney is asked multiple times about Kerry’s description of strikes as “unbelievably small,” answers that it was clear that Kerry was referring to the limited nature of strikes as opposed to large-scale, open-ended military action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

No matter how this works out, Kerry stuck his foot in mouth (State Dept tried to clean it up)-—definitely went off the reservation and changed everything. Russia said, “bingo” -— chess analogy is better though.

2 hrs later, Lavrov asks Assad to consider. 1- 2 hrs later, Assad says OK. LOL

I DVRed CNN & Fox this am. Fox has had little coverage of Syria (not even covering Carney presser). CNN has had wall-to-wall coverage all morning and continuing.

Reuters Warren Strobel reports: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed Syria’s chemical weapons in a phone call on Monday, a State Department spokeswoman said. The call came after Russia proposed that Syria put its chemical weapons stock under international control to try to avert potential U.S. military strikes over a gas attack.

Obama may spin this “lifeline” into a “See, I fixed it,” but in reality his plan was for arming the rebels to bring regime change.

This new offer keeps Assad in control for the foreseeable future. What will be the rebel reaction?

Many, many moving parts here that haven’t been thought through.

definitely went off the reservation

There are no boundaries whatsoever. Whoever is in front of a microphone just goes stream on consciousness. I could "almost" feel sorry for Carney.

They rebels are crying “deceit” on the part of Russia and Assad.

Will there be another false flag?

###############################

More BS...

Carney says that the vote over authorization in Congress should proceed separate from conversations over the Russian proposal in order to ensure that pressure on Assad continues to produce results. If the push for strikes should end in Congress, Carney suggests that the failure to keep up a credible threat against Assad would remove the will to explore options like the Russian proposal.

It was said Sunday Obama was delaying his speech til Wed. .....but the media didn’t pick this up....now that the game board is in play now I wouldn’t be surprised if he waits til Wed.

Kerry and Obama both ‘knew’ that Putin was meeting with Syrian and Iranian officials about a diplomatic proposal they would present today.

I am truly angry about all this political theater....they knew this was coming!...but they are projecting as if this is news to them just today. Golly I hate our media...they are so backward and or controlled that the current news arrives here long after it’s moving along.

INCREDIBLE to me that Fox didn’t carry Carney presser; If they have covered the breaking news this morning at all, it has been a mere mention. Syria discussions have been on the threats if Obama attacks Syria and how the Congress vote is stacking up.

What has happened to FOX? They seem to have been caught completely flat-footed -— as if all of this breaking news happened in the middle of the night, or on a weekend.

As I said earlier, CNN has been wall-to-wall all day so far.
