Nearly Half Of U.S. Births Already Covered By Medicaid
Medical Daily ^ | September 8, 2013 | By Matthew Mientka

A new analysis of federal health data shows that Medicaid paid for nearly half of all births in the United States in 2010, a rate that continues to increase.

The federal health care program covered 48 percent of the 3.8 million births that year, jumping from 40 percent in 2008, say researchers from the George Washington University School of Public Health. In only two years, the government entitlement covered 90,000 more women giving birth, as states expand the federal-state health coverage plan.

Medicaid coverage varied greatly state by state, ranging from a low of one-quarter of births in Hawaii to nearly 70 percent in Louisiana. The generally poorer southern states made greater use of Medicaid in covering births, compared to northeastern and northwestern states. In contrast to Louisiana and other southern states, Medicaid in Massachusetts and New Hampshire covered 30 percent and 39 percent of births, respectively. In Arkansas and Mississippi, more than 60 percent of births were paid for by the federal program.

It makes sense to be on welfare and have babies....IT’S FREE!

Spit them out like wet watermelon seeds at no cost and the government will give you an even bigger welfare check and all of the pampers and baby food along with every medical service you can thing about....and maybe a bigger section-8 home to live in.

I only ask one thing, please quit putting fresh, drippy and smelly pampers in grocery baskets and on the parking lot.

Yeah, I too was surprised when my 15 yr. old grand daughter, trying to get pregnant, succeeded. The sperm donor is 14, and they have a very happy profile on Facebook and Instagram. The good ole people of San Antonio, Texas have a school set up for girls to drop off JUNIOR at the day care, another benefit offered by the gub´mint. And now along with reading, writing and arithmetic, they are teaching them how to burp, change diapers etc. She´ll go from Freshmen to Sr. Year pretty much on the public carrier, and she says, OH, YOW...MEDICAID IS PAYING FOR IT ALL. We´ve come a LONG ways Baby, more like Belgium every day.

How did we get here? How did this happen within our form of government?

Why do the good working people of the world put up with this? Why are we so strangled and trapped by this? I’m just damn sick of it. I’m up on a Sunday a.m., too tired to spit, but I’ve got to get to work to pay off the debts, the bills, keep up my house, pay the high prices, and the taxes for this CRAP.

When do WE get a break?

Sadly, I think we’re outnumbered. Weeping for America.

That was my first thought. A statistic like this shows us why we are where we are today. The liberals have successfully tipped the scales so more people will vote for their stuff than vote for a vibrant economy.

Our representatives swear a sacred oath to secure the Blessings of Liberty to Posterity. Instead, they’re working as hard as they can to make our Posterity into wards of the State.

We have a small pediatric clinic and serve mostly Medicaid patients. What used to be a safety net program is now expanded beyond belief. We have many families that speak no english but are covered. We have patients that are covered under Blue Cross, yet have Medicaid as well. What galls me the most is that we have families that drive up in Escalades and Denalis that are covered by Medicaid. So, despite aborting millions, liberals are still breeding and delivering at a pace that will make hardworking conservatives extinct in a matter of decades.

Goodbye to the greatest nation that ever existed.

It cannot be stopped.

50 years ago people paid for their births themselves and they could afford it. Insurance and government have helped push the hospital costs out of reach for most people.

I think they mean ‘dependent on Medicaid’; that money is going to run out.

Well, it HAS run out, at $17 trillion in debt; we’re just still in denial, as evidenced by the silly headline.

I’s not within our form of government. It’s politicians defying our borders language culture and the constitution.

Abortion rights are not constitutional, they are simply approved by the Supreme Court.

Another example of why Democracy is always doomed. Totally predictable. People are naturally greedy, if you give everyone the “right” to vote, they majority will simply vote themselves the national treasury.

This is why our founders (some of the greatest men that ever lived) created a REPUBLIC. With only a limited few given the PRIVILEDGE to vote (land owning men).

NOTHING can fix this country now except a new revolution and recreation as a republic again with voting limited to a few who have EARNED the privilege.

At our local hospital on the California Central Coast, Watsonville Community, the number of births covered by Medi-Cal (Medicaid) is 87%. Ironically the number of children eligible for the free lunch program in the local school district is 87%.

Of course more thought will have to be put into what would entitle people to vote. I don’t think “landowner” would work today. I can almost see the liberals now selling one square inch of land to every moron in the projects, just to bypass this restriction.

How did we get here? How did this happen within our form of government?

A democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.
Democracy in America, Volume I (1835) - Alexis de Tocqueville
Taxing one group to benefit another has destroyed every republic from the Roman Republic onward.

thanks Oldeconomybuyer.

[snip] Buried deep within President Obama’s $3.77 trillion budget is a tiny little proposal to increase Medicaid spending by $360 million. In a budget as large as this one, $360 million is scarcely worth mentioning. It amounts to less than one-hundredth of one percent of total outlays. But this 0.01 percent is worth mentioning, because it proves the president’s health-care law will not work. [/snip]

I am exhausted, too. I can’t wait until I can retire, but I bet I work myself to death first. My kids complain the free lunch kids have nicer things than what I buy them, and those kids will go to college for free, too.
