Being shot at with a pellet gun after making racial or homophobic slurs is a ‘hate crime’. Being shot at with a REAL gun and/or beaten to a pulp isn’t a ‘hate crime’. They love you unless they say otherwise,right?

Officers found a large air assault rife, a tactical Airsoft pistol and a large bag of ammunition inside the car, records say. Airsoft rifles can be purchased without a gun permit, but the person purchasing the gun has to be at least 18 or older. 6mm plastic balls!

Air assault rifle?
Just what is that, anyway? A pellet gun that uses some kind of spring load or compressed gas to propel a small BB is hardly an “assault” weapon. And rifling, if any, would be of negligible nature.
I cannot imagine of any successful takedown of a victim with just a threat from such a device. It would be possible to inflict some degree of injury, not likely of life-threatening nature, though depending on where the projectile struck, it could be quite painful.
Almost as painful as the homophobic slur is to some folk.
