Six British soldiers in town for a rugby match against the NYPD have been arrested for allegedly beating up and robbing an off-duty American police officer in New York City.
Sky News reports the Royal Regiment of Scotland soldiers were at a bar in Manhattan Friday when the police officer began chatting with a woman who was with the troops. The BBC reports the soldiers are Fijan nationals serving in the 1st Scots Guard.

Those British footballers are a riot.
It’s a wise move never to attend a British team vying against a foreign one. Usually they beat the crap out of the foreigners if they lose and do the same if they win.
He was doing what he was entitled to do as a free citizen, and he got assaulted for his trouble because someone didn't like his attitude.
This cop was trying to get laid.
He also was doing what he was entitled to do as a free citizen, which is to strike up a conversation with a woman, and he got assaulted for his trouble because someone didn't like his attitude.
He messed with the wrong people and got taught a lesson.
Given what we know, he struck up a conversation with a woman at a bar. Unless she was the wife or girlfriend of someone else, he wasn't "messing" with anyone.
If he wasnt a cop the NYPD wouldnt have even cared let alone filed charges.
I realize you're speaking from ignorance, but if you assault someone in public in Murray Hill, break his nose, rip a chain from his neck and steal his smartphone - in front of a hundred witnesses - and the police catch you, you are going to jail.
It doesn't matter who the victim is.
This wasn't two guys in a shoving match. If you're in a bar brawl in NYC, you're going downtown. I've seen it happen with my own eyes on numerous occasions.
I'll also make this observation.
I played rugby for four years. When six (or four or eight) rugby teammates go out to a college bar and run into a group of college girls, it can be quite social.
When the same pack of guys goes to a regular bar in a big city and drunkenly decide to surround and hit on a single woman they do not know, her normal reaction will be to exit that conversation and start a new one with someone else as soon as she can.
I can believe that. I used to be a lifeguard at a public pool in a very mexican & kind of rough neighborhood. There was typically a small contingent of Samoans there, also, and the mexicans gave them a very wide berth.
You sound like a person who jumps to conclusions and makes an ass out of yourself.
Your post was pretty clear, live in fear, don’t cross the room to approach a woman unless you can be sure that no other man present wants to pursue her.
i bet you get beat up a lot.
no fear here. Of course I don’t pick girls up in bars in the first place. Are hookers expensive these days?
The assailants were Fijian? How unfortunate..
I have never lost a fight, that is one reason that I am not afraid to approach a woman in a bar even if another man is eyeballing her, in fact, even a crowd of men, that is a common situation around attractive women in social situations.
You expressed fear in your earlier posts full of desperate caution to avoid crossing the room to talk to a woman in a bar if other men are noticing her.
It sounds like when you have slipped up and asserted yourself, other men slapped you down, if you ever even gone that far before catching yourself with internal cautions and fears.
women who go to bars to get hooked up for the night are in no way “attractive”
Aside from the pettiness of your off topic post, plenty of attractive women, married, single, engaged, military, girls off work, go to bars and nightclubs, and happy hours with food, to socialize and dance, on dates or anniversaries, honeymoons, baby showers, for countless reasons besides “to hook up”.
You intruded on a discussion which did not involve you. now go away and tell your mom to teach you some manners
LOL, it is amusing and rare, to learn from someone how much their persona in a bar dealing with people in the flesh, differs from their swagger at the keyboard.
Too bad your keyboard swagger is outweighed by your previous personal revelations.
the secret is to stop digging when you find yourself in a hole
try it sometime
Well, stay safe, and don’t cross that room if other males are already eyeballing your interest.
