Members of Congress -- especially in the GOP -- are effectively caught between the political pressure from their constituents and the financial pressure from their lobbyists.

the voters or (the guns for hire) lobbyists?
...just how many lobbyists are there?
It’s another good reason to make the critters stay in their districts full time..
make 'em vote less/fewer bills/reading them (limit to 3-5 pages)/
limit all bills to subject @ hand (ie no piggybacking bills).
