US says Russia holding UN Council 'hostage' on Syria (Samantha Power)

The United States on Thursday accused Russia of holding the UN Security Council "hostage" over the Syria chemical weapons crisis.

With the White House pushing Congress to approve military strikes on Syria, US ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power said she could see no way to seek Security Council approval for action against President Bashar al-Assad because of Russia's blocking.

Amid mounting tensions between Washington and Moscow, Power said Russia's protection of Assad has put the whole Security Council system of handling international crises under strain.

"Even in the wake of the flagrant shattering of the international norm against chemical weapons use, Russia continues to hold the council hostage and shirk its international responsibilities," Power told reporters as Russia hosted US President Barack Obama at the Group of 20 summit.

He’s using the same tactics against the Russians he uses against Congressional Republicans. Some kind of “statesman.”

The thing all need to understand is that Samantha Power wants a wider war to involve Israel. It would give her the excuse to invade and the UN would mostly go along with it.

I never thought I would live in the country that has the anti Christ as it's leader.

The libs and the media can come up with all kinds of terms such as “international norm” but Putin won’t bite.

Obama wants congress to turn this down. Then he can blame congress. He wants the UN to turn it down then he can blame the UN. But if either approve it and it turns out bad, they all share the blame. A political operative told Obama “This is another crisis you don’t need to waste.” And the republicans fell for it.

Boner should have said “You’re not dragging us into this. This is your deal.” But, to do that Boner would have to have a brain.

Samantha Power is such a light weight I would not have her as a crossing guard.

Good grief, in a country of 320+ million is this little twinky the best to represent the USA in the halls of the Ministry of Silly Walks and Funny hats?

His ego makes him think he can get what he wants from anybody. He’s done it his entire career, along with fawning adulation from the press.

If it works on US voters, why not the Russians, Chinese, Egyptians, Syrians, etc ??

And the problem with this is?

The U.S. does this all the time, using our veto power within the U.N. Security Council, when we want to protect one of our allies, such as Israel. It’s appropriate to prevent bullies with power from running roughshod over those with lessor power.

U.S. gives up on U.N. Security Council in Syria crisis, blames Russia

EXCERPT

“I was present in the meeting where the UK laid down the resolution, and everything in that meeting, in word and in body language, suggests that that resolution has no prospect of being adopted, by Russia in particular,” Power told reporters.

I guess if Obunghole’s goal is to submit to the will and whims of the UN sending such a wispy twit as Ambassador makes sense.

I’d much rather have someone who can push back on all those who would love to see a weak USA (after they suck as much revenue from us of course).

We have 2 year old children throwing temper-tantrums running our foreign policy.

I thought Carter terrible when dealing with the world but these last couple of days take the cake.

O my

So now our UN ambassador is dissing the Russians along with obama. Maybe, Samantha, the Russians would play ball if obama wasn’t complaining and dissing Putin to talk hosts.
Ya think?

And now you doing the same, playing “Blame the Russian”

Tsk tsk.

Yeah Samantha it’s a tough job to deal with people who don’t want to do what you want them to do, but isn’t that what UN ambassadors have been doing since, like, the UN was started?

What did she think the UN was like- the democrat party in the US congress who roll over because obama said so?

Here is another amateur in over her pointy intellectual progressive little head

a “dominant obama”?

Has he been role playing with Reggie?
I would have pegged barry him as a catcher, not a pitcher.
What does Larry Sinclair say?

??

Irish-born.

BTW, is John Brennan a (dual?) citizen? His plan is to retire in Ireland.

Both Power and Brennan were in Ireland in August.
