WASHINGTON, DC Today, Rep. Michael G. Grimm (R,C-SI/Brooklyn) issued the following statement withdrawing support from President Obamas plan to attack Syria:
When President Obama announced his plans to strike Syria in response to the discovery that the Assad regime used chemical weapons to kill thousands of men, women and children; my initial reaction, as a Marine combat veteran, was to stand by the Commander in Chief and support immediate, targeted strikes. I believed that the reputation and credibility of the United States was on the line and that we had to send a strong message that the use of chemical weapons is reprehensible and will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, the time to act was then and the moment to show our strength has passed.
As debate has dragged on in Congress, the President has weakened his position as our leader and deteriorated our credibility on the world stage. The President has changed his red line to the worlds red line, he showed his hand when he should have kept it close, he failed to gain the support of key allies, and continues to delay action indefinitely until Congress acts.
Now that the Assad regime has seen our playbook and has been given enough time to prepare and safeguard potential targets, I do not feel that we have enough to gain as a nation by moving forward with this attack on our own.
Additionally I have heard from many constituents who strongly oppose unilateral action at a time when we have so many needs here at home. Thus, after much thought, deliberation and prayer, I am no longer convinced that a U.S. strike on Syria will yield a benefit to the United States that will not be greatly outweighed by the extreme cost of war.
Coming from Staten Island, NY, it looks like he may be a bit of a RINO, meaning support for Boner’s collaborating with the Mahdi on this could well be eroding the more people learn about it. The more this dead fish stays out in the sun, the worse it stinks.
Kissnger carefully managed to forget how Congress cut off all funding for the Vietnam War while he was SOS and Nixon was POTUS. Cutting off the funding and leaving the troops hanging there was a lot worse than saying NO to LBJ in the first place would have been.
I emailed the clowns from Georgia over the weekend, but I've found that you can't get their attention unless you attach a credit card number - but somehow this isn't considered bribery???
I think as more information about the “rebels” comes out the more support obama will lose.
We have 200 declared votes in the House against it so far.
... he showed his hand when he should have kept it close, he failed to gain the support of key allies, and continues to delay action indefinitely until Congress acts.
That was his plan as soon as Britain backed away. He’s a chicken sh!t from the day he was ill-conceived in the womb. He gets to act tough, something that is unnatural for him and it shows, while using congress, something else that is unnatural for him, as the scapegoat for his ludicrous BS. Thanks president a$$hole, you brought US to a new low on the world stage.
He voted against the King of Iowa amendment.
He is also popping up on La Raza type sites as one of the house traitors on amnesty. How many non Puerto Rican hispanics will vote in his primary?
Yup. The House rejected Clinton’s authorization for Bosnia in 1999, in a tie vote.
