Israel wants the US to provoke Syria into attacking them so that Israel can solve both the Syrian chemical and the Iranian nuclear threat. They know the US is an unreliable ally and they must assure their own survival.

Israel is more than capable of acting on its own, as it has in the past.

I'm not buying that argument. If that were the case, this would be the perfect time to let any scandal from the past emerge, while voting with the 80% of the population who agree.

At this point, they'd be forgiven, if they've mended their ways.
