They started collecting sales tax in Texas over a year ago. Amazon has a large warehouse in Dallas and due to that doing business in Texas, Amazon had to start collecting sales tax for Texas.
If your state has nothing Amazon in it, you won’t pay the sales tax. At least that is what happened in Texas.
