BTW, 1 gun I would LOVE to shoot full-auto.. I believe it is called mini.. I think 2000 rounds per minute.. but I will probably never even see that in person in my lifetime :p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM214_Microgun
Including ammo, it weighs in at a hefty 84 pounds. Not remotely practical as a man-portable weapon, the movie "Predator" aside...

Yes, unfortunately low-information voters includes all elected officials who don’t know any more about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers than the people who elected them.

That would include M1 Garands and carbines, right? We could always use more of them.

We really loved getting our hands on a case of the ammo loaded for the miniguns back when. It was a cut above the M60 7.62mm linked ammo in cleanliness and all. Had to be to avoid jams I would suppose. Looonnng belts. Our Huey gunships still only had two M60s on each side and were well understood if jammed. Had an Armey gunship land at our hotpad one day and the pilot point to one of his miniguns and tell us it was jammed.
We looked at each other like, WTF are we supposed to do about it? Never even seen one up close before and this guy wants us to unjam it?
Maybe if he had left it with us for a few days so we could have some fun, then pick it up later and drop off a few cases of beer for our trouble..........

Then again, if it only saves one life, isn't it worth it? (tongue firmly in cheek)

I still remember our Apaches getting engines clogged from the 1st war :/ (and the GPS getting screwed up:p).. I believe they fixed that problem for the second..
(Not exactly OT, but guns and engines during war ;))

Hehe.. if he had dropped it off for a few days.. it would have ‘gotten lost in inventory’ :^D (and ended up on a tripod on the defensive perimeter :^D

If I remember correctly, the M16A-1 was an improved version of the M16 (which had major jamming issues with the water/climate).. and the later version (Stoner) which added the front grip for SF..?
When I came into service 1989, we were issued the AR (no auto)..

That would be fun to play with, wouldn't it? A bit pricey in today's ammo market, though. Let's see, if you were able to get a bunch of 7.62x51 at really good price, you could burn through a 5,000 round belt in just under a minute, using up $2500 worth of ammo.

Lol.. nice to dream ;^)
Like I said, one full auto I would love to shoot ;)
At least me firing the 50Cal (full auto, but instructed to try to keep 3 round bursts.. and having 3 interchangeable barrels next to us WITH an ‘oven mitt’).. Was an adrenaline rush experience, but, thank God I never had to mount one in battle.. I was stuck with AR15.. which, me being E13 (artillery advisor) on the battlefield, was no problem.

I only spent 2 months in the Army (medical discharge), so the heaviest weapon I've ever fired is a Browning BAR at a gun range. I've never fired anything belt-fed.
I'd love to try out a .50 M2HB sometime, but it's so pricey!
