A Nation of Working-Class Dropouts

Every time a liberal sees someone behaving badly they sigh and say, “They just need education,” but the solution to America’s problems is less education, not more. If we got over this myth that everyone needs infinite academia, we would have less unemployment, more manufacturing, a stronger economy, less student debt, and less school tax. The economy would be stronger and we would all be happier. Ironically, in an effort not to hurt anyone’s feelings, we developed a system where everyone has to go to college, even the stupid people, until we all feel like shit.

When everybody’s special, nobody is. Getting everyone into college means you have to dumb down the curriculum until it is nothing but meaningless drivel that has no application in the real world. Colleges aren’t going to complain when you stick them with more customers. They just take the check, lower the bar, and say, “Come on in.” But getting a gold star on your math test does not a computer programmer make....

free trade, open borders, Invade the world/invite the world social policy

Pat Buchanan opposed these and he is a true paleo conservative-an endangered species but one which might just be coming back. I confess to a short-term seduction by the neoconservatives respecting the Iraq war for which I have often publicly repented.

As to the other sins, I plead not guilty.

Of the total US population: the stunning number of people “working” for Federal, State and local government(s) will blow your mind. Not to mention the annual $$$$ spent on salaries, pensions and other benefits. Wish I could do a spread sheet.

The neocons were/are insane with the “bring democracy” to the Middle-East nonsense. It has moved over to the democratic party with McCain & Graham bringing the infection to them. Politics in the USA is a sort of like looking at a funhouse mirror....everything is distorted.

What counts, Nate, is God’s blessing. People are not one size fits all creatures. All have distinct qualities and capacities. Some are made to employ a post doctoral education in something great. Others can thrive richly with barely a high school education.

Education shouldn’t be idolized. It is not the same as wisdom. In fact wisdom is needed to put education to the best use.

Middle East democracy would not work without a “demos” (people) that is beyond being crazy.

It worked great on a Judeo-Christian foundation.

Trying to get it to operate with a crowd whose deepest joy is to hoot for the destruction wrought by Allah... no fly zone here. They do far better with a king who has at least enough sense not to go in for the worst of Islam.

I know a union electrician here who easily clears $100K a year and he’s only 32. There is a huge demand for his level of expertise and if he doesn’t feel like working, he can rent his license out to a site that’s dying for it. Sometimes the union even pays him not to work because they want to give some new kids a chance. A few weekends ago, he and his buddies made $10K each. The job was past deadline so everyone had to work around the clock. That meant they’d bring cots and add up their breaks until they could take a six-hour stretch on the mat. Staying at the site all weekend meant overtime became time-and-a-half became double overtime, and by the time Sunday night rolled around, they were making more than most doctors. The client was happy because having these guys all weekend is cheaper than the late fees he was going to have to pay. Poets, bloggers, film experts, gender warriors, religion aficionados, and modern dance novelists would be lucky to make $10K in a lifetime.

The next time a hurricane blows through and the main power line to my house is laying live in the street, I'll call that poet and film expert.

If you want poetry, however, call a poet. Poetry as everything means as much as what it serves.

If you did away with history’s poets, well guess what you would have a blank church hymnal and a smaller, poorer bible.

Take the gloves off, already. Quit pretending that good taste wins the day. Prepare to get down and dirty.

If you have them straining their feces for their dental work without swearing at them, that does have a certain style.

We will not win by stooping to their moral level, but that doesn't mean we can't fight.

Guess what, people - they're calling us c***suckers while we call them cads, and we get laughed at. Take the gloves off, already. Quit pretending that good taste wins the day. Prepare to get down and dirty.

Personally I get "rude." Literally God rude. It sometimes consternates and confuses folks. Even seemingly wonderful conservatives. But it's just saying chuck all that ego and sit yourself right down on the love of God again.

I supported Pat over Bush, and when I went to the district caucus, was informed that Bush was going to be the nominee. When that happened, I never went back.

Education shouldn’t be idolized. It is not the same as wisdom.

It's also not the same as knowledge. My liberal friends are quite impressed with educational degrees. Wisdom and knowledge are not important to them.

Pat has been right in the same way the John Birch Society has been proven right in their prognostications from the 50s onward. Those who are clear-eyed and clear-thinking are better able to clearly speak to the issues, without the fog of PC. Your #15 comment on Germany was right on the money. Glad to hear they modernized that horrible nest of socialism, the BundesPost. It was my one interaction with the German leviathan as a member of the US military that just set my teeth on edge. Otherwise, it was all pretty good as long as you kept to the rules.

One of the highest rated shows on television, Duck Dynasty, is on a cable network. Unthinkable not all that long ago. The show has a very conservative “vibe”.

Also, more and more people are “cutting the cord” and no longer have cable or satellite. If they are watching TV, they are using various means of getting video programming over their Internet connections. Netflix, Amazon Prime video, Roku boxes, etc., are examples of the infrastructure for this.

This opens up the possibility of more programming from non-traditional (non-Hollyweird) sources.

Income inequality is the result of work inequality.

less work, less pay.

less learning, less income

If we could find a way to channel the erotic lusts of youth and capture their attention while subliminally bringing them to conservative righteousness,

dude, are you on drugs?

I think we can see how this could be done in the reality program Duck Dynasty.

Of course, the program includes such no-no's as intact families.

And religion.

And teaching youngsters how to work. And how to handle guns and the outdoors.

“but the solution to America’s problems is less education, not more.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I totally disagree with this, we need less time and money spent going to school and MORE edcation, not less. We have college graduates now who HAVE LESS EDUCATION than the eighth grade dropouts who won WWII. I could show you some university graduates who could not pass my eighth grade final if their lives depended on it. I can show you a family member who is 38, has a computer science degree, is unable to make a living and has the wisdom and common understanding of what is actually going on in the world of a Squirrel...maybe. He has been tested years ago and scored above genius level in IQ. He could not pass my eighth grade final exam in history for certain and I don’t know if he could pass some of the other subjects.

No, we certainly don’t need less education, we need less time and money wasted and a return to actually learning something. I was privileged to be born into what would now be called poverty and I learned more by just growing up helping my parents provide a living than most young people learn in school now.

According to our eared leader the more working for government the better. He recently said that with more government workers tax revenue would increase and the deficit would go down. With that kind of thinking I suppose his goal must be to give everyone a government job, that would eliminate unemployment and pay off the national debt, then we could concentrate on other important things like lifting ourselves off the ground by our shoestrings or breeding flying pigs.

It sounds like you have been broken by them, actually, raised and shaped by them and their culture, even punkish “conservatives” are becoming as unreadable as the punkish left they claim to be different from.

Social conservatism is closer to being erased in America as the punks fight over money issues and mock conservatives as “ stick-up-the-a** people” for something as routine as pointing out language in an article, the same kind of disdain we see for the abortion and homosexual views of real conservatives.

When conservatives start finding the language in your articles too disgusting and juvenile to read, then you are the problem, not conservatives.

I guess you prefer ‘keep it real dude’.
