After a 45-minute walk Friday night, President Barack Obama made a fateful decision that none of his top national security advisers saw coming: To seek congressional authorization before taking military action in Syria.
The stunning about-face after a week of U.S. saber rattling risked not only igniting a protracted congressional fight, which could end with a vote against strikes, but a backlash from allies in the Middle East who had warned the White House that inaction would embolden not only Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but his closest allies, Iran and Hezbollah.
Aides said the decision was made by Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama alone.

The no-information voters will be too into Oprah, Dancing with the Stars, and watching and re-watching their Miley Cyrus tapes to even dream of contacting their representatives.
Somebody's gotta do it!

I am planning to contact my senators and representative and demand that they not support this folly
These idiots in congress are going to give obama every bit of cover he needs to go to war. The level of ineptitude and complicity by republicans is breathtaking.
He’s going to congress because they hold the purse strings.
Let his new and exciting packer-troops follow his treasonous orders.
Why?
Of course it's bad that somebody is using nerve gas over there.
But there's no reason the US should be the policemen in this case.
If the Muslim world can't address this internally, then why should the US?
0bama needs to lose this vote, and lose it BIG. It's not an issue of national security.
If the GOP shows their usual weakness here, I'm through with them as a party, period.
The LA Times story had him walking the grounds with an aide. I think it was a combination of the military and financial backblow plus cold feet on an operation that was practically guaranteed to get way out of the planner’s hands. Images of dead women and children would have been the least of it.

Ask for the Elitist of your choice. If you call Boner’s office, they won’t talk to you unless you’re in his district. They immediately throw you into an answering machine for recording your comments so they don’t have to listen to you. Apparently, the Speaker doesn’t want to hear from us.
Love it!
I contacted my own, Mike Rogers and Candice Miller.
I informed all 3 of them that I don’t know or care who used chemical weapons, Its not our problem and the “responsibility to protect” is not found in our constitution.
I pointed out that not one of our wars in the mideast has resulted in anything resembling freedom or democracy and in most cases our intervention appears to have made things worse. Iraq is a disaster, Afghanistan is a disaster, Libya is a disaster, and Egypt is a disaster. I supported Iraq and Afghanistan and now admit that they were mistakes due to our idiotic idea of nation building.
Syria will not end with a few missiles chucked into the country and we all know it. What it will lead to is an ever widening war and an anti war movement that makes the Vietnam era protests look like a little pouting.
The only chance the GOP has for the future is through Reaganesque restraint in war and in spending.
Call and ask to speak with Boo-Boo Boehner;
Tell them you’re calling from out of town.
Your home phone is (513) 779-any#-—(this is Boehner’s area code and exchange in West Chester, OH.
What that bastard does affects ALL Americans—he has no right to speak only with his constituents.
Give Mitch McConnell hell, too—everything he does affects Americans, as well:

The Obama Administration wants Congress to make the decision and then they can second guess whatever happened. The MSM will make it seem as if the failures are Congress's responsibility.
Congress should simply order a full investigation of what happened so far in the Middle East.
This far into the thread and nobody has yet quoted Sarah Palin: “Let Allah sort it out.”
Dems let S VN fall wo lifting a finger. Cambodia atrocities. Gassing between Iran and Iraq. Carter turned the Shah out.
And now we care how two enemies kill each other. Nope. US prestige is not on the line. Only BHO’s. Let him deal.
We shouldn’t even be having this discussion.
In other words, he wants to get them on the record, so they can't do something sleezy, scummy, and underhanded... like claiming they voted against it before they voted for it.
That pole smoker make a decision on his own??? Nah.
He got Obamacare out of the headlines, however.
A simply marvelous way of putting it.
