John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, said on Sunday that the administration had new evidence that sarin gas was used in an attack by Syrian government forces that killed 1,400 people last month. Kerry also said that he is certain that Congress will approve the attack on Syria, and invoked the name of Israel in this context.
I cant contemplate that Congress would turn its back on Israel and Jordan and the allies of the region, Kerry said on Fox News Sunday, saying that lawmakers had a duty to act to uphold international norms against using chemical weapons. Kerry stressed that it was important to send a tough message to other nations pursuing weapons programs, like Iran and North Korea.
Kerry, also sent a warning to Assad, saying that if he were foolish enough to harm his people again, then US President Barack Obama might take military action without waiting for Congress.
Of course the president of the United States knows we have the power to do this, and I assume he would move very, very rapidly, Kerry said.
Kerry said hair and blood samples from first responders who were helping victims in the Damascus neighborhood of Ghota al Sharkiya have tested positive for signatures of sarin. He did not say how the administration had obtained the evidence, but expressed confidence that the case against Assad was going to build.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I want to see Congress vote a resounding NO. Anything to humiliate Obama & Co.
Since when do liberals care about Israel?
If Assad has any videos of the rebels with chemical weapons, he needs to get them out there now. The rebels are losing, and have holed up as they think the US will attack. Hopefully Assad will use this week to flush them out.
It would be nice to see Al Qaeda’s men wiped off the global chessboard.
to vote NO will make them look like wusses, and will give Obama a propaganda point to use against them, so I expect a strong majority of Republicans to vote in favor. Of course all Democrats will.
SO this was really a very clever move on Obamas part. He gets everyone out on the weak limb with him, he gains propaganda points by pointing to “bipartisan support”, and he stays out of the briar patch aka War Powers Act.
AND he gets to play golf...
My take is that Israel is made to pay if we attack Syria. This is a no-win for Israel. We have nothing to gain, and it has a lot of chances to lose big-time.
It’s as if Obama relishes that fact.
The only ones NOT mentioned are the Saudis
who made the sarin and gave it (through Obama)
to al Qaeda.
John Kerry you are a despicable liar
If US attacks Syria, Syria attacks Israel and you know it you pos
I could be wrong, but I don’t think he’s going to get the backing he thinks he will.
This doesn’t get approved IMO. As I said, I may be way off base, but I don’t see support for it.
Oh yes, John McCain supports it. Enough said...
Sounds like a real presidential two-fer.
Lob some bombs into Syria and get Israel wiped off the map.
Others will question why the US can tolerate, for example, two million needless deaths from starvation in North Korea without producing a military response, but is chomping at the bit to engage militarily after the sad deaths of a few hundred in Syria. This last point suggests it is not cultural sensitivity alone that prompts US action,
Israel has become an friend of convenience for this admin. Not a comfortable spot to be in life nor diplomacy.
Russia is not moving warships to Syria for a boat show.
You have no clue what an intervention could do. Even limited action.
I don’t see it either, but some phone calls to the congresscritters would be prudent.
“Oh yes, John McCain supports it. Enough said...”
I don’t think McCain will support a couple of missiles just for Obama to say he did something and then go off to play golf.
Obama has already backed-down, once and for all. Someone forgot to tell Kerry the party is cancelled.
He would call it a “Win-Win”
Unfortunately, I think he’s right...The Republicans want this war even more than Obama.
