But Ector and other African-Americans who share his views on firearms see gun rights as a civil rights issue and tighter regulations as a way to keep power out of the hands of minorities. "Gun control has racist roots and when you deny people the opportunity to own a gun and to protect themselves, that is the epitome of racism," he told Al Jazeera.

Finally, they get to defend themselves from the bullet-spraying gang-banging thugs that are terrorizing their neighborhoods and killing their children.
I fully support their God-given Constitutional right to defend themselves and protect their families from the terrorist gang-banging dope pushing gangs.
Thank goodness for the NRA, formed to give weapons to freed slaves so they could defend themselves from the democrats who wanted them back in chains.
You think many people know that? The media will not allow that kind of talk at all.
I sympathize with the sentiment, but it is nonsense.
If the gun control policy is conceived and implemented without reference to ethnicity, it's not racist.
It may be stupid and lots of other unflattering adjectives, but not racist.
Probably not.
Star Parker made a really good short video about these facts awhile ago, worth watching.
Everything seems to remind some of them of segregation. No use trying to appease them.
Al Jazeera just surprised me.

Nothing in this Wiki mentions it.

The NRA has ever mentioned anything about this. I’d like to see the documentation.
Black Man with a Gun is a great podcast. In his book and podcasts he lays out the racist past of gun control.

Oh, ye. wikipedia?
I have never come across any NRA writings that indicate this. I would like the NRA to acknowledge this if it is true. It would be nice if it was true. You just can’t name it and claim it or blab it and grab it just because you want it to be true.
I did not.
I trust these men and women to be telling the truth.

Chicago has very stringent gun control laws and an extremely high volent crime rate. Detroit has lax gun control laws by comparison. People there can fairly easily purchase guns and get ccw permits. Detroit has a high number of justifiable shootings where its residents were able to defend themselves with a gun, but nonetheless, Detroit also has a very high violent crime rate.
It is not the level or lack of gun control laws that impact crime statistics, it is entirely driven by the number of available criminals a locale has.
Show me the proof. Let the NRA bring that unknown piece of history to the public. If it is true why hasn’t the NRA ever done so?
I am not going to be naive and just accept what they believe. Show me the Monet!
