Washington -- President Barack Obama's administration today said it would take new executive action toward gun control, acting on issues that Congress failed to address through legislation.
The White House had promised big city mayors in a closed-door meeting Tuesday that it would take its own action on gun control.
The new steps would curb the import of military surplus weapons and close an obscure loophole that allows felons and others to register guns to corporations as a way to avoid background checks.
Vice President Joe Biden, who has led administration efforts on gun control, is expected to outline the plan at the White House today.
The executive actions are part of a list of 23 steps the White House said the president could take to reduce gun violence in the absence of any legislative initiatives passed by Congress.
It is also Unconstitutional and prohibited by the US Supreme Court.
If the Republicans do not file and announce a lawsuit, their party is over.
Traitorobama again uses the Constitution as his personal toilet paper... and the Congress does nothing.
It's getting harder to tell the difference between them.
dead cold hands....
...dead cold hands
REALLY? how many times have I heard those words? how many times has the RINO party dropped the ball? They wont do anything pertinent and they will muddle along until the next crisis they let slip through their fingers...
Yep. Totally reasonable. The Crips and Bloods are going to be P!SSED that they can't buy WWII era Lee Enfield SMLE's to do drive bys with. And I'm sure they have their army of corporate lawyers already figuring out how to beat the corporation loophole for procuring guns illegally.
F%cking morons. I'd accuse 0bama of fiddling while America burns, but I'm sure he can't play the fiddle.
While conservatives are sitting on their asses being the smartest people in the room, the left has taken over the government.
If I was a liberal in 2013, I’d be laughing and crapping on everyone too.
Exactly, using our tax dollars to arm his brethren AlQuaeda and the MB while dis arming America.
IF his argument is trying to control street crime... he has to address all his children, in particular the young BLACE males 15-28 that 3% of our population who are responsible for over 50% of all violent crime. These little black ferals will steal guns so they can still have them. Also, if the guns run out, they will use anything for a weapon. Go to africa and you will see the largest atrocities were conducted with cutlasses (machetes) Remember the hutu’s and tutu’s?
What he needs to do is address that 3% and solve the root problem problem. Again, why do the majority have to pay for his protected 3%.
Ferals need to be outlawed, not guns!
All in favor please signify by loading the weapon of your choice with a full magazine...
Frog pot. Can’t have any jumping early...
Yep. It’s been working great for them as a strategy so far...
First shot’s already been fired.
We just didn’t have the gumption to return it...
“...Mausers, Mosin Nagants, and ...”
It’s not about anything to do with crime.
It’s about removing proven .30 caliber BATTLE RIFLES from the hands of potential Citizen Riflemen.
I don’t care if its an old bolt action surplus - it’s an 800 yard battle rifle that, in the right trained and skilled hands, can be an effective platform. Look at what the Afghanis did to the Russians with old WWII surplus Enfields. They outranged the standard Soviet AK47’s and AK74’s and shot the hell out of those Russian grunts.
M1 Garands, Mosins, Mausers, Enfields, etc. - ALL of these rifles proved their place in a thousand battlefields across the world over the last 65+ years. .30 caliber allows a Rifleman to operate OUTSIDE of the 5.56mm (.223) effective envelope by a few hundred yards.
Our adversaries aren’t stupid, by a long shot. They know what they’re doing.
And when it comes the M1 Garand, well, those rifles were paid for by AMERICAN TAXPAYERS, and they rightfully belong BACK with American taxpayers.
Clinton should have been held criminally liable for the destruction of taxpayer property when he ordered THOUSANDS of M14 Rifles destroyed - rifles that should have been converted to semi-auto and then sold through the CMP program back to the Americans who paid for them originally.
“...Its been working great for them ...”
Not as long as you still have one in your holster or slung on your back, brother.
Ace in the hole.
Molon Labe.
Obama’s one in a long line of Imperial Presidents of the USA. We’ve had nearly a century of them.
Will we remember this when one of “ours” is POTUS?
Unless we return the power to make law to the legislature we won’t regain our liberty. Make Congress approve all executive agency decisions. That alone will kill regulation and force only the “best” regulations as bills to the floor for real votes.
The Executive Branch only enforces and may not make law. Toss in the states and you have four separate and equal branches of government.
Use the Commerce Clause to bash liberal anti-market policies in the individual states and at the national level and viola - you’ve regained your liberties without any bloodshed.
We’ve adulterated the meaning of a nation of laws. Those laws are Natural Laws, not just any law. We have thousands of laws that are contrary to liberty and nature enforced by bureaucrats with sovereign immunity (a court created law, that needs to be legislated to death).
We’ve avoided a single king for a tyranny of thousands of petty kingdoms. If you look at the American power landscape it would look worse than 17th century Germany or Italy with thousands of little tyrannies saying “no, no, no”.
Clinton saved me from buying cheap Chinese ammo.
I think they see the writing on the wall though.
Speaking of walls, almost time to start putting some of them up against one...
