Communications intercept proves Syrian forces launched chemical attack
American Thinker ^ | August 28, 2013 | Rick Moran

As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't change the rationale for not bombing Syria one bit. All it does is set up a war crimes trial in the Hague in the future.

Foreign Policy:

Last Wednesday, in the hours after a horrific chemical attack east of Damascus, an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defense exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers for a nerve agent strike that killed more than 1,000 people. Those conversations were overheard by U.S. intelligence services, The Cable has learned. And that is the major reason why American officials now say they're certain that the attacks were the work of the Bashar al-Assad regime -- and why the U.S. military is likely to attack that regime in a matter of days.

But the intercept raises questions about culpability for the chemical massacre, even as it answers others: Was the attack on Aug. 21 the work of a Syrian officer overstepping his bounds? Or was the strike explicitly directed by senior members of the Assad regime? "It's unclear where control lies," one U.S. intelligence official told The Cable. "Is there just some sort of general blessing to use these things? Or are there explicit orders for each attack?"

Nor are U.S. analysts sure of the Syrian military's rationale for launching the strike -- if it had a rationale at all. Perhaps it was a lone general putting a long-standing battle plan in motion; perhaps it was a miscalculation by the Assad government. Whatever the reason, the attack has triggered worldwide outrage, and put the Obama administration on the brink of launching a strike of its own in Syria. "We don't know exactly why it happened," the intelligence official added. "We just know it was pretty fu**ing stupid."

Iran, with Syria's support its peaceful nuclear energy programs, has further instructions for the author.

Let me get this straight in my head, we are going to bomb a country and we will surely kill innocent civilians, because they are killing their innocent civilians with chemical weapons which is not politically correct? We need to kill them with our conventional weapons which are politically correct? One of us is crazy.

false flag. black ops. clandestine disinfo comm intl, contrived by specialists, voice actors reading a script, those skilled at blaming acts on others so they receive the wrather really do the real criminals. this stinks to high heaven. Assad had not reason to do this. al=Qaead (al-Nusra, desperate and lined up against him, would have every reason to do something like this and blame it on Assad...and they would have no qualms about taking lives out in this way to do a black ops). Sickening.

Capt. Walid: Sir! we fired 10 rounds of anti-terrorist Sarin gas into the Baladya neighborhood, Sir!

Lt. Col. Faris: Capt. Walid, didn't I tell you never to call me and report any violations of International Law on this line? You know that the Western dogs are monitoring our communications! I will have you shot! But bring me 10 kilos of Halva, with Pistachio nuts, OK?

Capt. Walid: Sorry Sir! 1000 apologies Sir! Did you want it with Pistachio nuts or with that vanilla swirl in it?

Lt. Col. Faris: Capt. Walid! Shut up and stop calling me on this line. Report to me with the Halva, immediately an I will have you shot!

Capt. Walid: Yes Sir, right away Sir! I gladly give my life to Assad and I am so happy to die for him and bring you your block of Halva, Sir!

Yeah right... colostomy bowel played a recording of a phone call in iraq that proved that they were moving WMD around... the government can create whatever they want... they just issue a statement and arrest anyone that disagrees with it. Trust is no more.

Our “intelligence” agencies will find whatever Obama needs to get us into this mess. If they cannot find it, they will produce it.

Trust-————Something I no longer have in this Administration.

I trust nothing in government any longer. Only a handful of men and women in America deserve our trust. Trust must be earned and the US government has a lot of earning in their future. Maybe we will never be able to trust them again. That breaks my heart to even think about it.

Too bad we weren’t listening this good on the night of the Benghazi attacks. We would know exactly who to blame.

Hmmm.

You just gave me at thought.

Suppose one of the Al Qaeda idiots was moving some of his WMD stores and accidentally detonated one of their Sarin rounds.

Then they blamed it on Assad.

Or like Osama laughing about the fact that some of those men on the 9/11 hijacked plane did not know they were about to fly into a building. Yes, Obozo would do that too.

Based on this snippet, it doesn’t sound like the Assad regime authorized the chemical attack.

Exactly. It sounds like he just assumed that his people did it, just like a lot of people. That’s not proof of anything other than the weapons were used and a Syrian commander was not pleased about it. His presumption is not evidence of anything.

I’m not saying Assad did or didn’t back it. I’m just saying this is proof of nothing.
