As the war drums for Syria get louder, let this thread serve as a repository for news, background, Tweets, photos, video, on-the-ground reports, etc., as was done recently with Egypt.
PM Cameron says categorically that the Syrian opposition do not have chemical weapons
Complete BS. And, per McCain they are peaceful folk, with no US weapons, and not aided by AQ.

No public schedule

You can read my post at 300 for what the Prez said on this subject.
Obama won’t make case with congress or the American public. He uses favorable MSM and talk shows for soft-ball interviews.

How embarrassing to watch the British Parliament debate whether WE should attack #Syria while our #Congress is adjourned.
I wish every one of them would meet mohammad face to face. Yes, I do.
1. Thanks for starting this thread!
2. Way too many replies to look at them all right now . . .
3. Has anyone suggested that this “current-crisis” is the ‘next-sep’ associated with the Benghazi-strategy in play when murders happened?
4. Has anyone wondered if we would ‘abandon’ any downed airmen in peril if this “current-crisis” go wrong?
5. Too many “???” surrounding this “crisis” with too many unintended or planned consequences in play.

Security Council photo... Where is Susan Rice? on vaca?
“Whether he has been turned by Saudi oil money or bribed or threatened by Chicago thug politics...”
You might be getting warm. I saw that Greta interview. He has been at fevered pitch for days now, but on Greta he behaved more like a rabid lobbyist or paid DNC consultant than an obama spokesman drumming up support for obama’s war.
Exactly! Well said.
McCain is behaving off the chart crazy!

What did I miss?
I just turned on to see spokesman say, “This conference call won’t be the lst.”
CNN crawler is saying, “Report showing Assad’s govt used chem agents will be declassified before any action is taken, Obama adm says.”
I got interrupted so will have to rewind to find out. I have to go help my elderly neighbor. Be back later.

Thursday, August 29
17:14 GMT: The UN investigators will return to Syria and continue investigation of the use of chemical weapons after reporting to UN headquarters, UN spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.
Meanwhile, the UN and Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, said the investigators have not yet determined what substance was used in the alleged attack and are awaiting the results of the analysis.
Brahimi refused to comment on reports of an imminent Western strike on Syria, saying he has no knowledge of the issue.
17:00 GMT: The five permanent members of the UN Security Council will meet again Thursday to discuss the alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria, Reuters cited a UN diplomatic source as saying.
The meeting of Russian, Chinese, French, US and UK representatives will take place at 18:30 GMT, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The meeting was reportedly requested by Russia.
16:38 GMT: Canadas Prime Minister Stephen Harper said his government supports military in Syria over chemical weapons, but that Canada had no plans to send troops.
Harper said there was a risk the alleged chemical weapons attack could set an extremely dangerous precedent if the international community did not act.
It is embarrassing, but we should be asking is there something that stops Congress from calling themselves back into session?
Although this seems to be playing out just as it was foretold and if that is true, it won't matter what America does for God's hand will move against us to stop America from interfering with the epic battle between good and evil.
Oddly my soul feels very much at peace I hope it carries me all the days we have left.
Were you watching CNN WH presser?
Asking bec another CNN crawler: “Just in: Western diplomat says Russia calling for a closed-door UN Security Council meeting at 2:30pm EST.”
My GMT conversions lacking. Is that the same meeting? If so, wonder if Russia will get it’s way with “closed-door.”
Reporters at White House and State Department peppering spokespeople with the same sort of questions at the same time. The specter of the Iraq war looms large

White House’s Josh Earnest avoids answering question by Reuters’ @robertarampton if the Obama administration is concerned about the unexpected delay in action from the British Parliament. Instead he said the White House “”appreciates the strong words that have come from senior leaders in the British government about what has gone on in Syria. ...We have heard them talk about their desire to see the Assad regime be held accountable.”

White House says what U.S. is contemplating in terms of its Syria response is “very discreet and limited” and not open-ended. Earnest rejected comparisons to Iraq war

State Dept spokeswoman says “considerable differences” between Iraq and Syria because in Iraq the U.S. had been trying to prove existence of WMD, but in Syria they know chemical weapons exist.
“I would encourage people not to equate the two assessments,” State Dept spokeswoman says of intelligence on Iraq vs Syria.
