(CBN) -- Syrian Christians are asking why the United States supports extremists who want to turn Syria into an Islamic state.

That testimony came during a congressional hearing on Syria’s religious minorities Tuesday.

Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., who chairs the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights, called on President Barack Obama to defend the rights of Syrian Christians.

In an opening statement at Tuesday’s hearing, Smith said statistics show “that Christians are even more fearful for their lives and safety than other segments of the Syrian population.”

Nina Shea, director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom, testified that Islamic insurgents are targeting Christians for “ethno-religious cleansing.”

Christian Solidarity International CEO Dr. John Eibner, who also testified at the hearing, said displaced Christians are asking him,
“Why is the U.S. at war against us?”

Eibner told the panel he recently returned from a trip to Syria where he met with “many resilient and courageous Syrians, mainly displaced Christians and church workers.”

“Victims recounted to me the religious cleansing of Christian neighborhoods in Homs and Qusair by armed jihadists who threatened them with death if they did not leave their homes,” he said.

“A Christian woman told me that before she fled Homs, she had seen the beheading in broad daylight of an Alawite girl who was pulled off a public minibus by armed jihadist,” he said.

Eibner said the United States should work with Russia to negotiate a peace rather than help Sunni Muslims turn the country into an Islamic state. Read more via CBN...

Qur'an (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves."

Qur'an (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..." The dissolution of oaths with the pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture. They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway.

Qur'an (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who must "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.

Qur'an (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts"

Qur'an (66:2) - "Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths"

Qur'an (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit. If Allah is deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)

Taken collectively these verses are interpreted to mean that there are circumstances when a Muslim may be "compelled" to deceive others for a greater purpose.

Pretty simple logic actually.

Islamist terrorists set off car bombs in Jaramana, a predominately Christian town near Damascus in late July, 2013.
These terrorist bombers are the so-called Syrian "rebels" supported by President Barack Obama and Senator John McCain.
Obama is supplying the "rebels" with arms and training to overthrow the secular government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

In Jaramana, the car bombs killed 10 civilians and injuring 66 more including children.
Nearly 100,000 Iraqi Christians refugees who fled their homeland after the US led invasion overthrew the secular dictatorship there in 2003 live in and around Jaramana.
The Al Nusrah Front -- funded by the government of Qatar - and the Islamic State of Iraq also used car bombs in Christian areas of Damascus
in July killing many civilians including children and injuring dozens.

Barack Obama & John McCain's Islamist friends don't care who they kill or maim in their war to overthrow the secular government of Syria.
The same month they beheaded a priest and still hold several Christian clergy captive included two Bishops.
These bloodthirsty Islamist thugs are fighting jihad to obtain their 72 virgins in paradise by killing "infidels."

America should not send any support to these terrorists killers.
Whatever weapons American provides will be used first against Christians in Syria, then against Jews in Israel

That’s a shame, isn’t it? If I call myself a Christian, then I’m darn sure going to know what I believe. They could also be CINOs, Christians in name only, and are not interested in the bible.

All I can say is God is fully aware of their situation and will move for them when/if He will. We should pray they are made aware of what Scripture says regarding their country. I wonder how many of them know of Damascus becoming a “ruinous heap” in Scripture? Those who do should surely get the heck out of there if they can.
