'Point 'em out, knock 'em out': Brutal game ends when assault victim fires his concealed handgun
Mlive ^ | 8-26-2013 | John Barnes

The game was called "point 'em out, knock 'em out," and it was as random as it was brutal.

The object: Target an innocent victim for no other reason than they are there, then sucker punch him or her.

But on this day in Lansing, there would be no punch. The teen-age attacker had a stun gun. He did not know his would-be victim was carrying a legally concealed pistol.

The teen lost the game

................

The 17-year-old in gym shorts approached his target. The 28-year-old Lansing man was waiting for his daughter at her school-bus stop at REO Road and Ballard Street.

....The teen had two friends nearby - dropped off by a third friend in a van after they scouted their target. They knew what Marvell Weaver was going to do. They had discussed it.

Weaver approached his victim from behind, a black KL-800 Type Stun Gun in his pocket. It is capable of generating 1.8 million volts.

He passed him and turned back, pressed the stun gun into the victim’s side. Again and again, and … nothing. It had fired earlier when testing it, he would later tell police.

“The button was like stuck down … or something. I don’t know what caused it not to work,” according to a transcript of Weaver’s statement.

‘Please don’t kill me’

The intended victim moved quickly, pulling his stainless steel .40-caliber Smith and Wesson. It had a full 10-bullet magazine, and was worth about $900 police estimated.

He shot Weaver in his buttocks as the teen turned to flee.

“It happened so fast I wasn’t sure. I just know something was shoved into my side. I wasn’t sure if it was a knife, if it was anything,” he told police.

Weaver ran, sat down across the street, his leg going numb, bleeding. Pleading.

I actually do a lot of walking in my neighborhood, however it has been limited to specific streets and specific routes for years.

Ah-yup. One direction I won't walk.

Now, I am out walking Buford on random streets and am amazed at how bad my own neighborhood is getting.

Two unsolved murders in the last six months, withing half a mile of our place. One over $.80 in change they shorted the stop-'n-rob clerk. The other, no reason at all anyone's articulated.

A few bits. A stun gun of this type can be purchased on ebaY for about $10.

Ships from Singapore? Comes with no-name Chinatronic batteries? Might work, once. Might not.

OK, looked at the pic in the article.

That's a S&W third generation autoloader, probably a 4006 or similar.

I doubt that's a $900 gun.

Wouldn't be my choice, but I won't second guess something that worked.

Works even better when applied to the testicles.

It’s hard to tell point of origin with products anymore. One of the big providers is located in Georgia, but their parts could be from about anywhere. The stun guns of this type I’ve charged and discharged several times satisfactorily.

But then again, as I said, I would not use them as a primary weapon. Rule of thumb: primary a gun, secondary a sheath knife that can be quickly recovered. For third I’m partial to pepper spray. But if a perp is face down, but still acting antsy, that is when I would cool his jets with a stun gun.

Other than the intended victim needing a little range time, good job intended victim.

Have to wonder if the stun gun had worked, what Obama's son would have done to the victim?

Did the victim’s gun jam after the first shot? A pity he couldn’t finish the job.

No. I'm actually glad little Marvell gets a chance to reconsider his life choices.

The county doesn’t want to pay the hundreds of thousands in medical expenses this kid is racking up at Harborview (#1 trauma center in the state). They will most likely charge him sometime in the next couple of years before the statute of limitations runs out. They’ve done this a couple of times in the past.

and 0 bummer’s sons will think twice about attacking someone at random.

They won't though. "Think" is something that they don't do much of, aren't sure how to do it, and don't want to anyway, and why should they when it's not needed for them to qualify for place at the public trough funded by you and me.

A well hidden secret to close in combat shooting ... the bladder when hit with any caliber bullet brings shock almost immediately. If you miss the bladder, the entire pelvic floor is lined with arteries and main nerves to the legs. You want a perp down? Aim for the pelvic region, preferably in slight a downward trajectory. When I carry my little North American Arms 22mag derringer revolver in my coat pocket, I will not even have to clear the coat to make that shot inside six yards. A second shot may be made at a more leisurely pace ...
